Tessa Thompson Wore C.D.K. SUPER TEX To The UGG Season Kick Off Party

On Thursday, Tessa Thompson attended the UGG Season Kick Off Party at 74Wythe in Brooklyn.

She’s never been one to shy away from experimental fashion, and her latest look from Japanese label C.D.K. SUPER TEX proves it. The design carried that unmistakable Comme des Garçons spirit—deconstructed, unconventional, and a little off-kilter in the best way. I believe it could be a collaboration or capsule piece, given how directly it nodded to Rei Kawakubo’s school of thought.

Japanese fashion has long thrived on subverting expectations. From Yohji Yamamoto’s poetic tailoring to Issey Miyake’s sculptural pleats, the Japanese avant-garde has always treated garments as ideas as much as clothes. That same philosophy was present here: oversized pinstripe shirting twisted into a sculptural shape, paired with tiered, uneven harem shorts that pushed proportion to playful extremes.

And then came the footwear: slip-on UGG shearling clogs. Mandatory for the event, sure, but on Tessa they didn’t feel forced. She owned them, folding the comfort-core staple into her conceptual ensemble with surprising ease.

This is where her style thrives—when it leans into art and abstraction but remains entirely hers. Once again, I’m happy to be proved wrong.
