Angela Bassett Wore Yara Shoemaker Couture To The ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ Cannes Film Festival Photocall

Angela Bassett made a triumphant return to the Cannes Film Festival for the first time since serving on the jury in 2019, for the Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning photocall at the Palais des Festivals.

This embellished Yara Shoemaker Fall 2023 Couture coat and trouser set sparkled with crystals, pearls, and paillettes in a warm orange-peach hue that practically radiated under the Cannes sunshine.

Unlike Halle Berry’s photocall look, which didn’t exactly scream French Riviera, Angela understood the brief. This look is Cannes-worthy.

Now, if the outfit looks familiar, that’s because Blake Lively wore it earlier this year at the SXSW Getty Images Portrait Studio for Another Simple Favor. It likely flew under the radar then — a portrait studio doesn’t quite offer the same impact as the Cannes photocall — but here, the look gets its rightful time in the spotlight.

That said, my excitement dims just a touch when my eyes drop to those silver pointy platforms. Suddenly, the trend for sweeping hemlines that conceal all footwear makes complete sense — it’s self-preservation.

As for the pearl necklace, it probably wasn’t needed considering the coat’s heavy embellishment, but if there’s any event where excess is the expectation, it’s Cannes.
