Jenna Ortega knows how to serve a moment — and for the world premiere of Hurry Up Tomorrow in New York, she served up a slice of fashion history.

Wearing the instantly recognisable John Galliano for Christian Dior newspaper-print slip dress from Spring 2000, Jenna tapped into a piece that’s not just archival, but iconic. Of course, we all remember this dress as the one worn by Sex and the City’s Carrie Bradshaw (played by Sarah Jessica Parker) in the unforgettable What Goes Around Comes Around episode. It’s a dress that defined a generation of fashion fans and continues to hold a chokehold on the nostalgic hearts of millennial style watchers.

Jenna styled hers with gold strappy sandals, keeping things simple yet impactful — letting the dress and its pop culture weight do all the talking. She looked great; the cut flatters her perfectly.

There’s a wave of red carpet déjà vu happening. Millie Bobby Brown recently threw it back to Gwyneth Paltrow’s 1998 Shakespeare in Love premiere look, while Blake Lively went full Britney Spears, wearing the same Versace dress from 2002.

This isn’t just archive revival. This is celebrity-to-celebrity homage, and I, for one, am loving it. There’s something fun, clever, and a little cheeky about seeing how the same piece lives on with a new energy. I can’t wait to see who’s next to tap into this trend — who’s brave enough to revisit Björk’s 2001 Oscars swan dress?
