2022 Emmys Red Carpet Menswear

It looks like Nicholas Hoult’s Venice Film Festival Armani look started a trend that made its way onto the red carpet at the 2022 Emmys on Monday (September 12). How are we feeling about this new trend?

Andrew Garfield, Nicholas Braun, John Legend, and Seth Rogen all did the white tux, black shoe thing with varying degrees of success.

Andrew Garfield of course nailed this Zegna look as he never fails to charm on the red carpet.  

I love the relaxed feel of his styling which included an OMEGA timepiece, Christian Louboutin Greggo shoes, Arnette shades and David Yurman jewels.

Nicholas Braun also opted to go without a tie with his Dior Men’s suit which included the Oblique jacket.

Instead, he opted for rhinestone collar pins.

De Beers jewels completed his look.

When it comes to John Legend’s Gucci look, the bow tie ensured that the shoes worked with this suit. 

I just wish this was more subtle and didn’t have the GG motif all over it.

I love the idea of Seth Rogen’s Brunello Cucinelli suit. He’s clearly having fun with it.  I just wish the trousers fitted better.

If I was Nicholas Hoult I would’ve been proud to see so many following in my footsteps.

The British actor has already moved onto the next menswear trend by rocking flared trousers with a cropped oblique jacket from the Dior Men’s Spring 2022 collection.

A lot of us haven’t been sure about this trend, but if there was one person to make it work, it was Nicholas.

His look was styled with the Jaeger-Lecoultre Reverso Classic Large Duoface Small Seconds timepiece, and a Briony Raymond sterling silver and paste stone riviere necklace.

Black on black will always be a very debonair look. Will Poulter’s Dior Men’s oblique tuxedo is yet another classic example.

The elegance was upheld with his embellished brooch and black leather derbies.

Colman Domingo always stands out on the red carpet.

Not only because he opted to go gold when most opted for white or black. 

On this occasion he was front and center on account of the titanium gold shaded brocade detailing on his custom Dolce & Gabbana Sicilia-fit suit styled with a sheer embroidered turtleneck.

I know many of you expected this to be a list of black suit after navy suit, but Zedd opted for an even bold hue wearing a Dolce & Gabbana purple Mikado silk Sicilia-fit suit.

Bode continues to provide intriguing alternatives to traditional suiting options, and I continue to be impressed with them.

Reece Feldman styling gave this striped suit a fun ‘60s slant, which I’m sure you’ll all appreciate.

Ismaël Cruz Córdova is definitely one to continue to watch when it comes to his red carpet looks.

When I saw him in this Richard James aquamarine velvet dinner jacket, a part of me wished that he had opted for the full velvet suit.

If you’re looking at Jerrod Carmichael and thinking, “that fur coat looks like something Puff Daddy would wear.”

Well. Jerrod share that it had been worn by Puffy. He said, “it’s fox, it’s vintage, Puff Daddy wore it in a music video. I’m very happy in it, happy I won in it.

It’s more Grammys than Emmys, but he made it work.

Lee Jung-jae, who picked up his Lead Actor in a Drama Series for ‘Squid Games’ wore Gucci suit which would’ve felt tame by Gucci’s standards had it not been for the leather and silver studded trim.

Brett Goldstein, who took home the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for ‘Ted Lasso,’ opted for a simple, yet classic look from Valentino.

Murray Bartlett was another winner on the night, taking home the Best Supporting Actor for his role in ‘The White Lotus,’ wearing a Louis Vuitton suit.

He completed his look with an OMEGA Trésor small seconds Sedna™ timepiece.

There are suits that are contemporary, classic, and charming.  Adam Scott falls firmly in the latter for me.

Some might think that this custom Dolce & Gabbana Martini-fit tuxedo blazer is a bit cheesy with the white ruffle shirt, black satin cummerbund, silk bow tie and a carnation boutonnière, but I think that Adam has the personality to pull this off, which he did.

Are carnations about to become the latest menswear trend?

Paul W. Downs never fails to catch my eye.  Smart, and effortless in Valentino.

I love the colour of Toheeb Jimoh’s pale blue Dior Men’s suit, but I wish he had opted for a white shirt on this occasion.

Sebastian Stan joined his ‘Pam & Tommy’ co-star Lily James on the red carpet.

I really like this buttoned up, no tie look.  It feels so fresh and clean.

Seth Meyers and Dolce & Gabbana are always a winning combination.

It feels like groundhog day with Trevor Noah, but it works. 

Kumail Nanjiani was shining in Armani with David Yurman jewels and Christian Louboutin Derbytoto shoes.

Taron Egerton opted for a classic Brunello Cucinelli tuxedo from the Fall 2022 evening collection styled with an OMEGA Speedmaster 57′ timepiece.
