Margot Robbie In Chanel – 2018 Critics’ Choice Awards

At the end of 2017 I asked, where is the love when it come to Margot Robbie’s style? And I was overwhelmed with the response.

With that in mind, I KNOW you will dislike her Chanel Resort 2018 look worn to the 2018 Critics’ Choice Awards on Thursday (January 11).

The ‘I, Tonya’ star did take a risk with this beige and black striped silk pleated gown with an embellished belt, and I have to say I personally love this look.

It’s bold, unexpected, kinda quirky, carefree and seemingly fitting for the occasion.

But I am going to hazard a guess that most will see this as non cohesive, totally all over the place and inconsistent to with what she has presented so far in 2018.

Gym hair and prison stripes. No thanks.

  2. Mimmi January 13, 2018 at 16:36 #

    Love this! Margot looks great!

  3. Chiliam January 13, 2018 at 13:23 #

    I love it.
Its always fun to see someone try different things. Its better this way than countless average safe dress.

the hair is an absolute disaster. i am horrified at the comments saying they love the hair . if you saw any woman walk into work with hair like this, you would know she had a tough night. the dress is horrible. everything is a disaster. margot has a beautiful face and healthy body, not sure why it is so difficult to dress/style her??

Gorgeous make up and hairstyle, but no to the dress. The embellished belt cheapens the look.

Horizontal stripes either demand a slim column fit or an OTT ballgown, embracing the width–this is in between, with busy details, and it’s not working.

  7. Martin January 13, 2018 at 03:42 #

This look really works. Yes, it is busy and there are a lot of elements but they don’t seem to be competing against each other and it is a fully-formed and fantastic look for me. The hair and makeup is sensational as well. Well played.

Side note – a big thanks to Catherine and the team for their amazing and tireless efforts this week. Between the Globes and the Critics Choice Awards and everything in between, your efforts have been truly herculean.

I am one of the few who liked her style in the past year… andddd forgive me but I loved this one!! She looks beautiful.

  9. Jess January 12, 2018 at 21:21 #

I love it FC. Her make-up makes for a refreshing change on her too. I think her style overall isn’t inconsistent, but experimental; and, it’s clear she dresses for herself and to look interesting rather than desperately trying to exude sexiness.

It’s a win for me, sparkle & stripes are two of my favorite things.

Love the headstyling but I still don’t think this is a red carpet dress, the neckline looks weird, the shape of the skirt looks weird and the tan with the black isn’t an ideal combination

  12. Silvia January 12, 2018 at 20:06 #

    I actually love it.

  13. Chris January 12, 2018 at 20:01 #

I like that she takes risks and has fun and goes for very different types of looks. I’m not feeling this particular look, to be honest, I already disliked that dress on the runway, but I really like Margot’s head styling.

  14. Lara January 12, 2018 at 19:56 #

Her face is so exquisite. That’s all I got.

  15. justme January 12, 2018 at 19:53 #

She’s consistent… in bad red carpet decisions.

  16. Alina January 12, 2018 at 19:29 #

Better than the look at the Golden Globes.
However, I think the dress would have worked even better if it had been more column-shaped.

    • Schoolbea January 12, 2018 at 20:38 #

Exactly. It suffers in comparison with the runway silhouette.

That being said, I actually love this. I’ll just ignore the volume at the bottom and I’m sold.

  17. Pheephee January 12, 2018 at 19:24 #

hmmm. I can’t stand the messy hair knot. It looks sloppy.
I really can’t tolerate the bottom skirt piece. Its too much stripe and it hangs funny, almost like its giant culottes.
I do like the waist and bodice though. Its interesting and fun….

  18. Mimi January 12, 2018 at 19:11 #

The hair ruins this for me

  19. Caitlin January 12, 2018 at 18:52 #

I love this look. She looked beautiful and it looked even better on TV.

  20. TeaAtTwo January 12, 2018 at 18:43 #

I would love her in a dress that all have qualities of those adjectives used but not this dress. But I do adore her hair and beauty look.

  21. Jerusa Herrera January 12, 2018 at 18:27 #

Beautiful, from the neck up… neck down is a no for me.

I love it! One of her best looks till date! She’s easily one of the best dressed of the night. Glad to see a woman with class wearing Chanel. Take notes, Karl.

Surprising myself, I really like this Chanel dress. Margot looks great in it.

  24. Maria F. January 12, 2018 at 18:03 #

it’s not a bad look, but her style is so all over the place, that I never feel she owns it. For me it seems more of a case of ‘sure I wear this’, but never her having any strong input or vision in the process.

  25. Kimma January 12, 2018 at 17:56 #

The dress itself is lovely. I don’t really understand the over embellished belt with it.

  26. Caroline January 12, 2018 at 17:55 #

    Surprisingly, I love this.

  27. Nicola January 12, 2018 at 17:48 #

I was so excited to see her in this Chanel dress. It was fun, unexpected and quirky. I especially loved the styling with her hair and the ribbon.
