Tiffany & Co. 2017 Blue Book Collection Gala Red Carpet Roundup

Joining Ruth Negga and Haley Bennett were a number of other eclectically outfitted stars at the Tiffany & Co. 2017 Blue Book Collection Gala on Friday (April 21) in New York City that had me questioning exactly what the dress code requested.

Doutzen Kroes: The model hid her beautiful form in a Céline Resort 2017 ensemble that boasted of quite clownish proportions. I’m afraid I cannot hop aboard the oversize look here that just translates as messy, especially with Doutzen’s barely-there beauty and afterthought hair.

Blake Lively In Brandon Maxwell – Variety’s Power of Women: New York

Blake Lively was an honoree at Variety’s Power of Women: New York event on Friday (April 21) in New York City.

In what can only be described as a power look, she wore a Brandon Maxwell Fall 2017 design that encapsulated everything I love about a jumpsuit in that it combined the classic elegance of a feminine, sweetheart neckline with tailored modernity.

Of course, the rich emerald hue was stunning, especially with Blake’s long, blonde waves and delicate, geometric earrings.

Hailee Steinfeld In Elie Saab – JDRF Imagine Gala 2017

Hailee Steinfeld was on the red carpet at the JDRF Imagine Gala 2017 on Saturday (April 22) in Beverly Hills, California before taking to the stage for a special performance.

Even though this Elie Saab Fall 2017 confection was simplified into a flirtier mini dress, it still translated the designer’s signature embellishment with its swirling enchantment of beading and sparkle.

So beguiling was the patterning, I found myself wanting it to continue into the longer skirt rather than end with a rather abrupt sheer finish.

Not that Hailee didn’t pull off the shorter silhouette on the premise of its youthful playfulness—with a sexy edge.

Janelle Monae In Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh – Marie Claire’s Fresh Faces Party

Janelle Monae was also at Marie Claire’s Fresh Faces event on Friday (April 21) in West Hollywood, joining Zoey Deutch.

She took the fresh theme as an opportunity to introduce a few new shades to her favoured black-and-white colour palette with an Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh Spring 2017 frock.

The dress itself was so complex in its randomly eclectic mix of patterns, it could have stood on its own quite decently—although I would have loved to see the scarf-like piece removed.

Yet, Janelle has never been one to shirk in the accessories department, so she loaded the look with Wolford’s Dot Tights and an Edie Parker ‘Jean’ clutch along with drop earrings and a choker.

Ironically, as a result, the look appeared less fresh. I would have removed the jewelry and tights, keeping her signature hair accoutrement—fanciful little birds this time.

Fan Bingbing In Givenchy & Monse – Givenchy Store Opening & 8th China Film Directors’ Guild Awards

Fan Bingbing attended the Givenchy Store Opening in China on Friday (April 21) before heading to the 8th China Film Directors’ Guild Awards the next day.

Givenchy Store Opening: The Givenchy Fall 2017 collection was done entirely in bright red, and Fan brilliantly showed off one of the pieces in this cross between a tuxedo jacket and a robe. She strikingly styled the loose, languid look with a lace camisole and gloves, hinting at boudoir elegance.

China Film Directors’ Guild Awards: Completing flipping the script on her next look, Fan served up a far different form of relaxed elegance. I love how she paired the intentionally unkempt quality of the oversized Monse Fall 2016 striped shirt with the structured tailoring of a prim pencil skirt. Opposites do really attract here. And, how happy are we to see this look styled without platform shoes.

Zoey Deutch In Rodarte – Marie Claire’s Fresh Faces Party

Zoey Deutch attended Marie Claire’s Fresh Faces event on Friday (April 21) in West Hollywood.

Despite the hyper-embellished nature of this Rodarte Fall 2016 lace blouse and skirt, what with its dimensional floral paillettes and fanciful embroidery, it maintained a sense of light, delicate whimsy.

My admiration is centered more on the look from the waist up, given the granny-panties shape of the skirt from afar.

But she styled it all beautifully, with effortless waves and a rose-pink lip along with sheer lace pumps that played into the ensemble perfectly.

Haley Bennett In J. Mendel – Tiffany & Co. 2017 Blue Book Collection Gala

Haley Bennett joined Ruth Negga at the Tiffany & Co. 2017 Blue Book Collection Gala on Friday (April 21) in New York City.

With a whoosh of dreamy femininity, she wore a J. Mendel Fall 2017 tiered tulle gown in a complimentary shade of sky blue.

Rosy makeup contributed a youthful glow to the look, with Tiffany & Co. jewels adding the requisite sparkle that such an event as this demands.
