Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

There were so many great menswear looks to take the red-carpet stage over the weekend.

Caleb McLaughlin: At the ripe age of 16, this ‘Stranger Things’ star is showing his incredible flair for style in this 3.1 Phillip Lim paint-splattered ensemble at the 2017 American Music Awards on Sunday (November 19) in LA. I love how he fully committed to the look, right down to the shoes—and that this is both youthful and fashion-forward at the same time.

Harry Styles: At the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on Monday (November 20) in Shanghai, China, Harry did what he does best combining retro and modern style influences in this Givenchy Spring 2018 mint suit and matching silk shirt paired with Givenchy boots.

Machine Gun Kelly: This Comme des Garçons ensemble took the abstract, paint-splattered effect to even greater lengths at the American Music Awards. But, despite the exaggerated elements, the effect came off as directionally cool rather than comical.

Arizona Muse In Elie Saab & Ralph & Russo Couture – Chain Of Hope Gala Ball & Aquazzura x Mytheresa.com Dinner

Arizona Muse made two captivating entrances over the weekend—first at the Chain Of Hope Gala Ball on Friday (November 17) in London, England then at the Aquazzura x Mytheresa.com Dinner in Vienna, Austria the next night (November 18).

Chain Of Hope Gala Ball: I will always have a weakness for a good cape, and that was never more true than in the sweeping rendition seen in this Elie Saab Fall 2017 Couture design. The effect was altogether regal with a fantasy allure in the wash of the watercolour ombre. Seeing the metal belt on the runway left me wishing she had kept that element, though.

‘Downton Abbey: The Exhibition’ Gala

The darlings of ‘Downton Abbey’ gathered for a gala reception honouring ‘Downtown Abbey: The Exhibition’ on Friday (November 17) in New York City.

Michelle Dockery: This version of the LBD, courtesy of Prada, came decorated with the label’s signature embellishment. Even so, it was a rather safe option for the actress, especially when styled with Rupert Sanderson black pumps.

Sophie McShera: I like how this Martin Grant Fall 2017 one-shoulder dress celebrated a certain vintage-inspired exuberance with its one pouf sleeve. Jimmy Choo cross-strap heels echoed that retro-forward spirit.

Joanne Froggatt: I’m sure Joanne’s Jimmy Choo black heels were chosen to complement the black waistband that provided a punctuated element amidst the light coral, wavy embroidery of her dress.

Sofia Boutella In Sonia Rykiel – Go Campaign Gala

Sofia Boutella joined Lily Collins for the Go Campaign Gala on Saturday (November 18) in Hollywood, California.

I was immediately drawn to her Sonia Rykiel Resort 2018 floral ensemble, not only for its bold floral motif, but also for its intriguing fusion of suiting and lounge wear.

Given the looser styling that may resonate with some as PJs, I didn’t even miss the lookbook’s belt. Sofia’s presentation had an easy flair that still featured plenty of edge—especially with her straight bob.

Her currently favoured locket necklace rounded out the look.

Kerry Washington In Altuzarra – Vulture Festival LA

Kerry Washington attended the Vulture Festival Los Angeles on Saturday (November 18) in Hollywood, California.

The actress wore an Altuzarra Spring 2018 dress style with Christian Louboutin sandals.

I’m glad she kept the fishnet overlay. Not only because it gives this look an edge, but also for the decidedly Parisan sensibility it brings to the look.

Jessica Chastain In Ralph Lauren – MoMA’s Contenders Screening of ‘Molly’s Game’

As Jessica Chastain continues to promote ‘Molly’s Game,’ she attended MoMA’s Contenders screening of the film on Friday (November 17) in New York City.

The actress wears rich, jewel tones and classic glamour so well, but I liked seeing her step outside that form with this graphite Ralph Lauren Fall 2017 jumpsuit.

Her flame locks breathed a fiery, feminine radiance into the industrial-chic look, with her tall heels likewise adding a hint of that glamour we know and love.
