Diane Kruger In Alexander McQueen- 2017 amfAR Gala Cannes

Diane Kruger channeled a dark, creative mood at the amfAR Gala during the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday (May 25).

We can generally expect Diane to dance with edgier, less expected looks, and she stayed true to form here in this Alexander McQueen Fall 2017 ensemble with Chopard jewels.

With its array of metallic embroidery and dripping in fringe, the look was certainly ready for a boho bewitching hour.

But, unlike her prior whimsical gown, I found the whimsy in this entrance to be heavier than I’d prefer for the likes of Cannes.

What do you make of it?

Rita Ora In Chanel – 2017 amfAR Gala Cannes

Rita Ora is performing tonight at amfAR Gala Cannes, held on Thursday (May 25) during the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.

One thing about Rita is she always keeps us on our stiletto-clad toes, as she took a frothy turn towards girly femininity in a Chanel embellished frock styled with Paula Cademartor ‘Bella’ sandals before taking to the stage.

Despite its sugary quality, it was a rather darling look that channeled a softer, fanciful spirit.

I did lose her waist a bit, but she worked her angles and the backless detail to her advantage on most occasions.

Perhaps the mod, ’60s bouffant-style hair was a bit much, but this is Rita, after all.

Her last look out at Cannes was underwhelming to some of you, so how do you like this 180-degree departure?

Eva Longoria In Elie Saab – 2017 amfAR Gala Cannes

Eva Longoria attended the amfAR Gala during the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday (May 25).

The actress wore a beautifully crafted Elie Saab gown with diamond jewels to accent.

After a stunning first turn at Cannes, Eva has put forward two very disappointing looks, and I’m afraid this one is only slightly better in my book.

It pains me to say it about an Elie Saab gown, but this just isn’t fabulous on Eva. The gown itself is stunning, but it makes Eva look boxy. Perhaps if the bodice was altered a bit, it would help?

Her hair isn’t helping matters, either. Those ultra-curled tendrils are very prom, and very wrong.

Am I being too harsh, or do you agree?

Karolina Kurkova In Missoni – AMORE Cocktail Reception

With the amfAR Gala taking place this evening, Karolina Kurkova made her first red carpet appearance during Cannes Film Festival by attending the AMORE cocktail reception at Villa AH on Wednesday (May 24).

Sporting new bangs, the model strutted down the red carpet wearing an bold sixties-inspired fringed mini dress from Missoni’s Pre-Fall 2017 collection.

Some might feel this is too heavy for a mid-summers evening soiree, but I’m loving the effortless vibe and the styling which included a Bally ‘Cordelia’ bag, and an awesome pair of acid green sandals.

Marion Cotillard In Self-Portrait – Annabel’s & Chopard Party

The Chopard and Annabel’s Gentleman’s Evening took place at the Hotel Martinez during Cannes Film Festival on Thursday (May 24) with Marion Cotillard in attendance.

The French actress wore a Self-Portrait Spring 2017 dress which she reinterpreted as a shirt; pairing the one shoulder piece with black trousers, thigh-high boots or tights. It’s really hard to tell against that black background.

Either way most of the love I had for this look has disappeared.

What was fun and fresh, has become laboured and overcooked.

I’m not going to hold it against Marion. I’m sure she enjoying this new experimental phase.

Dresses Over Jeans, The Key to Nailing the Ultimate Power Pairing

Fashion as we know it is in a constant state of evolution—the industry is continually devising bold combinations and offbeat pairings that offer a surefire approach to crank up and reinvent your standard everyday style.

The beauty of making a statement is that it can be loud with brazen prints and colors or it can simply be tamed with muted masculine hues—either way fashion is approaching a new era of experimentation.

The latest statement-making trend we’ve been eyeing is as simple as combining a classic pair of cropped jeans with a silk wrap dress or a printed little number with an asymmetric hem.

Not only does your wardrobe work double time, but now you’ve gained a newfound appreciation for exercising your style muscles in ways you never thought possible. See below on how to pull off the ensemble like a pro.
