Zhang Ziyi In Lanvin – Harper’s Bazaar China Charity Gala

Zhang Ziyi In Lanvin - Harper’s Bazaar China Charity Gala

Zhang Ziyi joined Fan Bingbing on the red carpet this evening (September 19) for the Harper’s Bazaar China Charity Gala in China where she was the host.

While I was expecting an princess gown from Zhang Ziyi, she went left, and served up this laidback elegant Lanvin Resort 2015 look.

No bells, no whistles; just a achingly understated black and white silk blouse with a black maxi skirt oozing boho chic.

I love that she didn’t overdress, styling the look with some complementary accessories including a gold flower belt, silver jewels and Roger Vivier clutch.

Wavy tresses and a red lip rounded out her pitch perfect look.

J’adore. Some times less is more. Do you agree?

Zoe Saldana In Juan Carlos Obando – 2014 Hispanic Heritage Awards

Zoe Saldana In Juan Carlos Obando - 2014 Hispanic Heritage Awards

Zoe Saldana attended the 2014 Hispanic Heritage Awards at Warner Theatre on Thursday (September 18) in Washington, DC.

The actress used the occasion to showcase the designs of fellow Latin star Juan Carlos Obando, wearing a look from his Fall 2014 collection.

In the later stages of the pregnancy we would forgive Zoe for perhaps not being on top form and taking her foot off the gas style-wise, but the mother-to-be is not letting things slip in that department.

She looked stunning in her satin and tulle gown styled with Sam Lehr jewels.

I love how the satin peplum detail perfectly caresses and flatters her bump, giving her a gorgeous silhouette.

She’s never looked better during this maternity phase.

ASOS Africa Celebrates Its 10th Season Anniversary

DSC_1651

ASOS Africa celebrates its 10th season anniversary with a selection of autumnal floral and kanga prints, with lavender, yellow and black shorts, duster jackets, shirts, trousers and dresses featuring in the collection alongside some checked pieces.

What’s great about this collection is that the fabrics are sourced locally – with the proceeds going towards boosting jobs in Kenya, where the collection is made.

Joanna Maiden from SOKO, a clothing production workshop in Kenya, told me that since the company was founded in 2011, they have expanded from a team of 4 to 45. The workforce, which is largely made up of women, receive a free lunch and on-site childcare. The financial empowerment gives them the opportunity to pay for their children’s education, among other things.

Prices start from £38 for shorts to £65 for the jacket.

Michelle Obama has been a big supporter of the ASOS Africa collection, having worn pieces from the collection on three separate occasions.

ASOS invited me to select a look from the ASOS Africa collection. My thought when selecting was, what would Solange Knowles do? Mix and match her prints, of course, plus add a statement shoe, which is what I did.

For every sale from the ASOS Africa Fall 2014 collection ASOS will donate £2 to contribute to food and welfare facilities for SOKO workers.

You can see more from the ASOS Africa Fall 2014 collection at ASOS.com US and ASOS.com.

Get The Look: Kirsten Dunst’s ‘The Two Faces of January’ New York Premiere Makeup

KIRSTEN DUNSTCelebrity makeup artist Pati Dubroff worked with Kirsten Dunst for the premiere of ‘The Two Faces of January’ this week.

Pati shares her beauty inspiration: “For Kirsten’s premiere, I worked off of the very inspiring Chanel Couture dress she wore. It was made of a neoprene type of fabric which gave it structure and had the most beautiful bead work, which is where my palette was drawn from.”

Here’s how to get the look.

Keeping her skin fresh, Pati prepped with Tatcha Dewy Skin Mist and L’Oreal Miracle Blur in the T-zone. After a light finish of foundation, she used Cle de Peau Concealer in Beige to even out the skin.

The brows were given strong definition using Maybelline Define a Brow in Dark Blonde.

For the eyes, she used a matte cream colour shadow on the lid and a matte putty colour shadow in the crease (both by Dior) to even out the lid and give definition. She then applied a matte bone colour on the lid and a matte taupe in the crease (both by Pati Dubroff Perfect Palette).

Next she used a liquid eyeliner from the centre lash line, extending beyond the outer corner with a flick. On top of the liner, she drew another line from the inner corner of the lash line, then extending on top of the black liner (a double liner effect).

This liner was a silver metallic – Chanel Long Lasting Eyeliner in Silver Light. Pati focused the mascara to the outer lashes to keep the inner eye light and bright.

Pati then applied a swirl of Flower Cream Blush in Petunia on the apples of the cheeks.

Finally, the lips got Chanel Rouge Allure in 217 Radieuse, a pale opal pink to mimic the opal beads on the dress.
