Caitriona Balfe In Erdem – IFTA Film & Drama Awards

Caitriona Balfe attended the IFTA Film & Drama Awards on Thursday (February 15) in Dublin, Ireland where she won the award for Best Actress in a Leading Role – Drama for her work on ‘Outlander.’

She showed off a shorter haircut which only enhanced the dark ethereal feature of her Erdem Resort 2018 gown.

The dark colour plays into her fondness of black while staying true to the designer’s Gothic beauty aesthetic.

The embellishment enlivened the inky black base for a deeply romantic take.

The delicate gathers on the skirt play up the prettiness, but it’s the cross-over top that frames her face beautifully, thus having the most impact.

Overall, the look has a quiet, moody sweetness which showcases her statuesque beauty with a softer silhouette.

Greta Gerwig In Gucci – ‘Isle of Dogs’ Berlinale International Film Festival Photocall

Greta Gerwig continues to captivate on the red carpet as she attended the ‘Isle of Dogs’ Berlinale International Film Festival Photocall on Thursday (February 15) in Berlin, Germany, where she joined Tilda Swinton.

Prior to her whimsical Valentino outing at the opening ceremony of the festival, the ‘Lady Bird’ director wore a patterned Gucci shirtdress for day.

There has been no shortage of Gucci on the red carpet, but I found this a refreshing choice not least for the white colour palette but because of its more casual nature.

It exudes polish and elegance from the classic silhouette, but the way the sophisticated style has been subverted with the designer print is modern and in keeping with her flair for the romantic and whimsical.

The white pumps with colourful straps lent a coordinated finish.

Lily James In Hellessy – Dunhill & GQ Pre-BAFTA Filmmakers Dinner And Party

Lily James was a beauty in blue at the Dunhill & GQ Pre-BAFTA Filmmakers Dinner And Party on Thursday (February 15) in London, England.

I was left in awe of the rich mixture of shades in her Hellessy Resort 2018 ensemble. It was so considered that the varying tones extended all the way down to her sandals.

There is a definite romance to the look with all of the ruffles and gathers. Combined with the oceanic colour palette, it almost has a mermaid feel.

It could have come across as out of place or sloppy, especially given the tricky nature of the fabric, but her pared-back styling ensured the look had a sophisticated sense of joy.

It makes me wish people were more experimental with separates on the red carpet.

Tilda Swinton In Chanel – ‘Isle of Dogs’ Berlinale International Film Festival Photocall

Prior to cutting a sharp figure at the opening ceremony and ‘Isle of Dogs’ premiere, Tilda Swinton attended the ‘Isle of Dogs’ Berlinale International Film Festival Photocall on Thursday (February 15) in Berlin, Germany.

The actress was once again drawn to the dramatic cut of a Chanel suit as she wore another style from the Pre-Fall 2018 collection.

This time, she brought together brown tweed separates to form a striking ensemble. It was at once crisp and flowing from the wide-legged trousers with their graceful drape and the rounded cut of the jacket.

The silhouette suited her statuesque beauty, but what truly made it special for me was the colour.

She frequently wears white, black and ethereal pastels, but brown isn’t normally in her wheelhouse. Gold, yes, but brown, no.

It was a slight deviation and it has made me excited to see what else she will turn up in.

Haim In Acne Studios – NME Awards

Haim can be consistently counted on to present coordinated looks without it coming across as ridiculous or costume-y. Their fashion credentials were showed off at the NME Awards on Wednesday (February 14) in London, England.

The sisters were all clad in Acne Studios ensembles from the Spring 2018 collection.

Este Haim: There was plenty of textural interest at play with her Acne Studios ‘Raehmon’ denim blue shirt and dress. Given the dramatic movement on the runway, I would have loved to see her pose to show off the fringing in motion, as opposed to it pooling on the floor, as it literally drags down the look.

Danielle Haim: Another one in clashing prints, she wore an Acne Studios jacket, embroidered waistcoat and embroidered trousers. The classic nature of the striped waistcoat and trousers was given a country feel courtesy of the oversized printed jacket. Oversized or not, I’m sure the long sleeves on the jacket will have some crying out for a tailor.

Alana Haim: Finally, the youngest sister switched things up with the shortest and brightest look. She donned an Acne Studios eel jacket, dress and Acne Studios ‘Helenah beads’ shoes. It’s a masterful mix of colour, fabrics and textures. And it all comes together with the retro, feminine feel.

Electric orange eyeshadow encircling all of their eyes tied the three ensembles together.

Laura Carmichael In Markus Lupfer – Autograph Collection Hotels Short Film Award

Laura Carmichael stepped out at the inaugural Autograph Collection Hotels Short Film Award on Thursday (February 15) in London, England.

The former ‘Downton Abbey’ star was clad in a Markus Lupfer Resort 2018 dress.

The style has plenty of interest between the striped panels and the printed base so I can understand why she opted for a more restrained approach when it came to accessorizing.

The Kooples ‘Emily’ bag and black ankle-strap shoes play up the vintage, almost flapper-like quality of the piece without taking away from the details.

It has a feminine polish that’s very much in her wheelhouse, but part of me wishes she would have added at least one accessory from the lookbook to recapture some of the joy.

Patricia Clarkson In Christian Siriano – ‘Isle of Dogs’ Berlinale International Film Festival Premiere & Opening Ceremony

Patricia Clarkson joined Helen Mirren, Toni Garn and Elle Fanning at the 68th Berlinale International Film Festival opening ceremony and ‘Isle of Dogs’ premiere in Berlin, Germany on Thursday (February 15).

The ‘House of Cards’ actress brought some textural interest to the red carpet with her Christian Siriano Resort 2018 ensemble.

Festooned with feathery silver fringing it captured the light in a striking manner.

The long length enhanced the dreamy quality while making the outfit more formal.

The ethereal feel was tempered with the simple black long-sleeved top and pumps.

Some might wish for a silver top, but the dark pierce brings a modernity and a relaxed elegance that suited her.
