American Ballet Theatre Fall Gala Honoring Cynthia Erivo
Cynthia Erivo was the woman of the hour at the American Ballet Theatre Fall Gala, held in her honour at Lincoln Center in New York City on Thursday evening.

For the occasion, she wore a look from the Erdem Spring 2027 collection, which you may have recognised thanks to its similar silhouette to the floral dress we saw on Chappell Roan earlier this week.
Where Chappell’s look was all about romance, Cynthia’s tailored version had a more commanding, formal presence.
The floral embroidery and appliqués introduce a feminine contrast to the traditional menswear tailoring, but it’s the sharp shoulders, fitted waist and crisp white shirt that give the upper half its character. We’ve seen Erdem bring these contrasting elements together in previous collections without losing the character of either, and the combination is just as striking here.
What I particularly love is the structure of the pannier-style skirt. We’ve seen plenty of runway looks where exaggerated proportions are designed to make an impact, only to be scaled back by the time they reach the red carpet. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case here. The skirt retained its full width, and Cynthia wore it with the confidence such an extraordinary silhouette deserves.
I can’t fully see Cynthia’s shoes, but knowing her love of platforms, I’m fairly confident there’s one hiding beneath that skirt.
