Prada’s Academy Museum Gala Line-Up: Romance, Sparkle And Bows
Prada dressed seven celebrities for the 2026 Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday.

Black And White Romance
Hunter Schafer wore a custom Prada black velvet column gown inspired by the Spring 2027 collection.
When Prada gets it right, it really gets it right. There is no middle ground. There’s something wonderfully Old Hollywood about this look, particularly with Hunter’s side-swept curls and pink gemstone earrings. I love how the white pleated insert interrupts the black velvet, giving what could have been another straightforward strapless gown a much more interesting finish.

A Floral Fantasy
Zoey Deutch continued her love affair with Prada’s embellished dresses, this time opting for a white gown covered in yellow and grey floral sequin embroidery.
I love how the simple silhouette allows the craftsmanship to do the talking. The three-dimensional floral details are charming, and this is easily one of my favourites from the Prada contingent.

Pretty In Pink
Gemma Chan gave us a welcome dose of colour in a pink silk gabardine Prada gown.
What I appreciate most is how the cut-out cuts through an otherwise classic Prada silhouette. If you can look past the slight tailoring issues, which reminded me of what we had to contend with on Cynthia Erivo’s Prada look, there’s plenty to appreciate here. I certainly found them easy to overlook because Gemma looks so beautiful in this pink hue, and the dramatic panels extending from the back adds are again, classic Prada.

All That Glitters
Maya Hawke has been moving away from the quirkier side of her style for some time, and as decorative as this Prada column gown is, with its crystal embroidery and cascading fringe of transparent sequins, it still feels relatively subdued by her standards.
This is one of those dresses that I imagine looks even better in motion. Prada white gold snake pavé and diamond rings completed her look.

A Little Blue Detail
I’m drawn to the architectural quality of the bodice of Amanda Seyfried’s Prada gown and the way the navy pleated panels emerge from the skirt. Her sapphire gemstone necklace provides a lovely finishing touch.

Bow After Bow
How many bows does a Prada gown need? Nine, apparently, judging by the dress Rosalind Eleazar wore to this event.
I usually have a soft spot for bows, but this might be testing my loyalty. There’s a lot happening across the bodice and skirt, and while I appreciate the construction, I find myself wishing a few of those bows had been edited out. The silhouette itself is beautiful.

Keeping It Classic
Dwyane Wade opted for a navy Prada suit, styled with a dark top, sunglasses and black leather Christian Louboutin boots, along with Tiffany & Co. jewellery.
