McKenna Grace Channels Jennifer Lawrence’s Iconic Oscars Moment

As we’ve seen throughout her Hunger Games press tour, McKenna Grace has been paying homage to Jennifer Lawrence’s on-screen history, and she continued that theme at the 2026 Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday.

I’m sure it took you approximately 0.2 seconds to recognise that her custom Mônot gown was inspired by the iconic red Calvin Klein Collection dress Jennifer Lawrence wore to the 2011 Oscars.

What’s funny is that McKenna has chosen to reference a dress we frequently revisit ourselves whenever one of Jennifer’s red carpet looks disappoints. We always find ourselves going back to that unforgettable moment.

Some might argue that McKenna should have saved such an iconic reference for her own premiere, but I see the logic. On a red carpet with more than 100 celebrities, what better way to stand out than by creating a fashion story that also reminds everyone she’s in the middle of her press tour?

Some might say it’s giving Single White Female, but I see it as very clever marketing, particularly when the connection between the two actresses is already established.

And beyond the strategy, McKenna looks stunning, with the deeper plunge reminding us just how much Mônot loves a sultry detail. Even McKenna’s voluminous blowout feels inspired by Jennifer’s 2011 look.
