Celebrities in Chanel for the 2026 Academy Museum Gala
Matthieu Blazy dressed nine celebrities in Chanel for Saturday evening’s 2026 Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles.
Sixties Sparkle
Sarah Pidgeon is still very much in her colour era, and I’m enjoying it. Her vibrant orange sequinned Chanel dress has a distinct 1960s influence, particularly in its straight silhouette, knee-length hemline and three-quarter sleeves.
I love the colour on her, and the white trim at the neckline is a charming detail. However, I do wish she had worn her hair up for this look.
Pretty In Pink
Seeing Hailey Bieber in a colour other than black is also a welcome change.
However, I have two reservations about her pink Chanel gown. The first is the length, which leaves the hem gathering around her feet. The second is the elaborate embellishment around the neckline. For me, the colour and clean silhouette were enough. The decorative detail introduces a busyness that the dress didn’t need.
Mint Condition
Alexa Demie is easily my favourite of this group in her pale mint Chanel feather-accented gown.
There’s a distinctly sensual quality to the design, thanks to the draping and cut-out, while the soft colour keeps it feeling fresh. The sandals are exactly the kind of footwear I wanted to see with a gown like this, even if they are transparent.
Accessories Make The Man
A$AP Rocky knows how to make formalwear interesting, and his Chanel tuxedo is another example.
The tailoring provides a classic foundation, but it’s the accessories that give the look his signature personality. The sparkling brooch, statement earrings and extraordinary embellished accessory in his hand are what separate this from the more conventional black-tie looks on this red carpet.
Tailoring Over Tulle
Kristen Wiig opted for a black Chanel trouser suit, and there’s no denying that the tailoring is excellent, despite the excessive length of the trousers.
The silhouette feels modern, while the plunging neckline introduces a more feminine element.
A Little Black Romance
There’s something quite romantic about Ella Rubin’s black Chanel halterneck gown.
However, I can’t help feeling that this is a little too restrained for Ella. The gown is pretty, but I would have loved a stronger fashion moment from her at an event of this calibre.
The Necklace Is The Moment
We’ve seen the Chanel Fall 2026 dress that Ananya Panday chose to wear countless times now, so the real attraction has become the extraordinary necklace each celebrity chooses to pair with it.
Bow Drama
Cole Escola certainly wasn’t interested in blending into the background in this black Chanel ensemble.
The oversized bow and sweeping cape introduce a theatrical quality that feels completely on brand for Cole. I also love the contrast between the dramatic black silhouette and the green earrings.
A Study In Texture
Miyako Bellizzi wore a Chanel Fall 2026 embellished midi dress featuring a dense arrangement of gold, black, red and ivory paillettes.
The black sandals were the right choice, allowing the dress to remain the centre of attention.
