Ellie Bamber’s McQueen Dress Has Eyes for Horror

Ellie Bamber attended a screening of The Face of Horror at the Prince Charles Cinema on Thursday, during the 2026 BFI London Film Festival.

It was a distinctly British fashion affair, with the actress wearing a McQueen Resort 2027 halterneck chiffon and organza dress layered with ivory heritage lace.

The appearance also comes in the same week as the news that Seán McGirr will be leaving McQueen after three years at the house.

McQueen has always had an affinity for gothic romance, and this look plays beautifully into that heritage. What I find particularly interesting are the cut-outs across the bust, which almost resemble a pair of eyes peering through the fabric. Whether that was the intention or not, it’s an intriguing detail for a film titled The Face of Horror, giving the dress an almost haunting quality without taking the theme too literally.

I also love how the delicate lace contrasts with the darker, sheer chiffon skirt. There’s something Victorian about the lace, but the overall effect feels contemporary, with just enough of McQueen’s signature darkness.

The McQueen Void clutch in antiqued silver metal adds another intriguing element, resembling something between a gothic relic and a piece of armour, while the house’s Skull pumps and TASAKI jewels complete the look.

For a horror screening, I couldn’t have asked for a more fitting fashion choice.
