Blake Lively Wore Versace To The New York Premiere Of ‘It Ends With Us’
After a marathon of floral fashions, Blake Lively attended the New York City premiere of âIt Ends With Usâ last night, fulfilling my dreams by wearing a vintage Versace dress.
Some might say that this nude Versace Fall 2002 dress, accented with a colourful pattern, is more predictable than the flurry of floral looks she has worn so far. However, this is the Blake Lively I know and love: sexy and unapologetically glamorous.
In Versace, Blake epitomises bold elegance. This is exactly what I had envisioned for the premiere, as I was confident that she would change direction and not give us another floral dress for this occasion. The vintage Versace number was a striking departure from her recent sartorial choices, and it was a refreshing change that highlighted her versatility and understanding of fashion.
Some may not appreciate Blakeâs press tour looks, but the fact that she took to Instagram to pay homage to the woman who wore this dress before her, Britney Spears, says a lot about her fashion knowledge and respect for iconic moments. Britney wore this dress to the Versace Spring 2003 show back in October 2002, making it a piece rich with history.
In her Instagram story, Blake wrote, “Today’s Mood. The ultimate queen who made us all want to sparkle and write and share our stories,” alongside a picture of Britney beaming in the dress. She continued, “Britney, us millennials all have a story of a moment, or of years that you made us want to shine and inspire awe, with strength, and joy and immensely hard work. Thank you for your example and your contribution to women telling their stories. So excited about your biopic and all you have to come.”
Her homage to Britney Spears added an extra layer of meaning, connecting her fashion choice to a broader narrative of inspiration and empowerment.
On this occasion the actressâ styling was understated allowing the dress to do its thing and shine.
