Prada @ The 2021 Met Gala
Prada was represented at the Costume Institute Gala that celebrated the opening of the exhibition ‘In America: A Lexicon of Fashion’ at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday (September 13) in New York with seven attendees.
Rita Ora loves to do the most at the Met Gala, after all it is the place to celebrate fashion to the 10th degree, so I was pleasantly surprised by this outing.
She looked divine serving up her version of Old Hollywood glamour wearing a Prada black crop top and pencil skirt entirely covered with faceted crystals
Was the black satin cape needed? Yes, if old Hollywood glamour was indeed her M.O.
De Beers jewels and Prada accessories including a crystal strass hair clip completed her look.
Taika Waititi and Rita were making their Met Gala debut as a couple at this event.
I love the sleekness of his Prada black satin double-breasted tuxedo, but I have a pet peeve of men wearing necklaces over their suits.
However, his Cartier diamond and sapphire necklace was beautiful, hence why he wanted to show it off.
I wonder if it has a cutural reference.
When it comes to Storm Reid’s Prada look with the tri-layered crop top, crystal embroidered shorts, burgundy duchesse couture apron with candy pink marabou feathers, there is a LOT going on.
But I really, really loved this.
The magic is in chaos for me. Plus, she is not overwhelmed by the look. She sells it, even though I’m not a fan of the bag or the shoes with this look.
Without the skirt, the look lost some of its powers for me.
Ava DuVernay’s fit and flare style gave way for a more form-fitted one in Prada for the Met Gala.
I’m gagging over this hourglass silhouette, and the embellishments which accented the shoulders. They were the perfect way to elevate this look to Met Gala magic status.
I love how geometric crystal mirrors on Hunter Schafer’s Prada two-piece look gave this a space-age vibe which amped up by the 12ct aquamarine brooch worn on her head by Evangeline AdaLioryn.
Frank Ocean’s guest for the evening was a green robotic baby, which may have been a ploy to distract us from his neon-green hair.
After opting for Prada nylon gabardine anorak jacket for the 2019 Met Gala, this year he rocked a velvet look.
Unfortunately Gigi Hadid’s Prada look was really underwhelming.
