2018 Black Girls Rock! Awards

2018 Black Girls Rock! Awards

There were plenty more gorgeous girls who hit the red carpet at the Black Girls Rock! 2018 Awards on Sunday (August 26) in Newark, New Jersey.

Amandla Stenberg: Predicting Amandla’s style is damn near impossible at the moment. But I love how she keeps us on our toes. This Thom Browne Fall 2018 striped suit sees her work a boyish look, which may look like it shrunk in the wash, but seeing how the look appeared on the runway, she managed to make it her own.

Leomie Anderson: Like Naomi Campbell, Leomie brought plenty of glamour to the event wearing a gorgeous yellow Galvan London satin dress styled with spiked Christian Louboutin shoes and Tiffany & Co. jewels.

Lena Waithe: The ‘Ready Player One’ actress was ready to rock in Prada wearing a look which was perfectly suited to her no-fuss style.

Ava Duvernay In Diane von Furstenberg – Vulture Festival

After she delighted at Cannes, I was pleased to see Ava Duvernay back on the red carpet at the Vulture Festival on Sunday (May 20) in New York City.

The director is not afraid of bold prints or colour and this Diane von Furstenberg Spring 2018 dress is very much in her wheelhouse.

Some might be trying to make heads or tails about what’s going on with the belt, ties, necklace and layered top. There are a few different elements at play, but it’s nothing to get hung up on as the joyful bohemian spirit radiates through every detail.

Do you like the belt?

‘The Man Who Killed Don Quixote’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere & Closing Ceremony Red Carpet Roundup

Lovely ladies joined Khadja Nin, Cate BlanchettKristen Stewart and Olga Kurylenko at ‘The Man Who Killed Don Quixote’ premiere and Cannes Film Festival closing ceremony on Saturday (May 19).

Léa Seydoux: Going for a bold, glittering finish, the French actress was outfitted in a Louis Vuitton dress and shoes. There have been some critics of the designer of late, but I’m hoping this shimmering, sensual silver style will go down favorably.

Ava DuVernay: The director oozed sophistication in a custom Stella McCartney gown. This rich maroon is divine with her complexion and the sweeping shoulder detail has such refined elegance.

Ava DuVernay In Cushnie et Ochs – amfAR Gala Cannes 2018

Ava DuVernay joined Laura Harrier and Kristen Stewart on the red carpet on Thursday (May 17) for the amfAR Cannes Gala held at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes, France.

I was in a state of awe seeing the director wearing this custom Cushine et Ochs column gown in the deepest – hypnotic – lapis blue hue.

The gown is beautifully tailored. Snatching her at the waist with elegant detailing such as the lace trims which makes this such an exquisite gown, and probably her best so far.

Ava DuVernay In Greta Constantine – ‘Blackkklansman’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Ava DuVernay and fellow juror Chang Chen attended the premiere of ‘Blackkklansman’ during Cannes Film Festival this evening (May 14).

Ava DuVernay: I love that the rain has only emboldened the women to wear brighter colours tonight. The director wore a custom Greta Constantine pink and orange colour block gown. The look was very much on trend as Lake Bell and Helen Mirren brought this colour combo to our attention earlier this year, following the red and pink trend of 2017.

Chang Chen: While I feel his trousers are a tad too short – perhaps this is a new trend – there’s no deny how sharp this look is.

Jurors Protest At The ‘Girls Of The Sun (Les Filles Du Soleil)’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Kirsten Stewart, Lea Seydoux, Khadja Nin, Ava DuVernay and Cate Blanchett walked the red carpet in protest of the lack of female filmmakers honored throughout the history of the festival at the screening of ‘Girls Of The Sun (Les Filles Du Soleil)’ this evening (May 12) during Cannes Film Festival.

Only 82 films in competition in the official selection have been directed by women since the inception of the Cannes Film Festival whereas 1,645 films in the past 71 years have been directed by men.

Kristen Stewart: The actress wore classic Chanel suit, styled with rebel Roberi & Fraud retro-inspired shades.

Lea Seydoux: Her custom Louis Vuitton gown from the Fall 2018 collection is stunning. I love how it defines her gorgeous figure, and how the ruffled detailing gives the look an interesting dimension.

Khadja Nin: This navy gown was given plenty of African flare with her signature head scarf and sash combo.

Ava DuVernay: I had hoped to see more of Ava at Cannes, but her third outing didn’t disappoint Alberta Ferretti.

Cate Blanchett: The Australian actress wore her second Armani Prive look of the festival. The sensual fabrication was only enhanced by the asymmetrical cut, sculptural hip detail and figure forming fit. Chopard jewels completed her look.
