‘Respect’ LA Premiere Red Carpet Roundup

There were many more gorgeous ladies, and a gent who joined Jennifer Hudson on the red carpet for the LA premiere of ‘Respect’ on Sunday (August 8).

Summer premieres don’t have to be all about floral gowns, or gingham prints.

However, I found Hailey Kilgore’s Jason Wu Collection Fall 2021 gown a little too sombre for such a celebratory occasion.

I think that between the colour, style, sheer volume, and black carpet, she got a little lost in this.

On the flip side, Thuso Mbedu also wore black, yet there was a light airy feel about her Christian Dior look on account of the sheer point d’esprit skirt, which was teamed with a classic off-the-shoulder jacket.

The look was styled with a black Micro Lady Dior Bag.

There was either an all-black dress code, or the attendees wanted to ensure they didn’t upstage Jennifer on her big night.

‘Doom Patrol’ actress Diane Guerrero wore an Aliétte gown which I would’ve loved to have been styled with more inspiring accessories.

If there was an all-black dress code, Lodric D. Collins, who plays Smokey Robinson in the film, didn’t get it.

The actor stood out wearing a tan and olive-green Grayscale suit.

Honestly, I don’t know how I feel about this. 

On the one hand it ticks the different and unique box I’m always crying out for when it comes to menswear.

But on the other hand, I’m kinda wishing that this was two shades of the same colour.
