Cynthia Erivo Wore Loewe, Vera Wang & Chanel Promoting ‘Genius: Aretha’

After serving up three looks (one I’ve already placed on my 2021 BDOTY Pinterest board) promoting ‘Genius: Aretha,’ British actress-singer Cynthia Erivo was back with three more for our entertainment, the press and the viewers of Jimmy Kimmel Live!

I had to start off with the look which was the most intriguing, and that’s this Loewe Spring 2021 dress.

We know that designer Jonathan Anderson had a lot of fun crafting the most exaggerated proportions when creating Tracee Ellis Ross’ suit, and here we see it again on Cynthia’s skirt.

I’m delighted that the piece hasn’t lost any of its shape.  I think the reason this works so well on Cynthia is because the skirt is so elevated.  Without that flounce and volume this look may not have felt so fashion-forward.

Usually volume like this brings a feeling of decades past, but if anything, this feels like one from the year 3000.

Salvatore Ferragamo Sansu F Heel sandals from the Spring 2021 collection completed her first look.

This Vera Wang Spring 2021 dress is my favourite of the three.

So much drama.  I love how the simple silhouette of this blazer dress is elevated with the graphic floral print and the tulle cascading train, which might feel a bit random and or something of an after-thought to some, but it makes the look for me.

Paris Texas Croc embossed stiletto boots in pearl grey rounded out this second look.

You may feel that Cynthia took her foot off the gas for her guest appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where she wore a black and white tweed dress over black and white tweed pants from the Chanel Spring-Summer 2021 Act 1 Ready-to-Wear collection, but this was really all about the Chanel CC accessories for me.

Should she have added the chain-linked belt?
