Cynthia Erivo Promoted ‘Genius: Aretha’ Wearing Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta & Valentino

Cynthia Erivo Promoted ‘Genius Aretha’ Wearing Carolina Herrera

Yesterday (January 14), Cynthia Erivo promoted her new project, ‘Genius: Aretha’ which is the third installment in National Geographic’s anthology series, that’s not to be confused to Jennifer Hudson’s ‘Respect’ film.

Cynthia’s stylist Jason Bolden shared three looks, which were likely to be premiere options for the TV series.

There was only way place to start, and that was with this breath-taking Carolina Herrera Pre-Fall 2021 dress which once again proves that despite the British actress’ petite frame, she is never overwhelmed by strong details.

Of the three, this had the strongest connection to Aretha’s golden era; the ’60s.

While this is an awards season / big budget premiere look, I don’t feel robbed of not seeing it on the red carpet.

This is combination of virtual premieres being our “new normal,” and the fact that a beautiful woman in a beautiful gown can shine in any setting, as displayed here.

I would put this in the top 5 of Cynthia’s Hall of Fame.

Next up is a pretty pink Oscar de la Renta Fall 2020 gown.

While it’s beautiful on Cynthia, I think that either; I’m too blinded by the love of the first look, or that I am slightly over this high-low silhouette.

The final look from Valentino’s Spring 2021 collection reminds me of all those gorgeous printed frocks Cynthia worn during her 2020 awards season run.

You’ll be happy that the volume of the dress was tamed with a belt, but some might feel that the belt is too wide considering her short torso, but I love how this feature changes the whole outlook of the look from the runway.

A quick glance, and you might mistake this for a crop top and maxi skirt.
