2020 Billboard Music Awards Red Carpet Roundup

There were many more looks which took to the red carpet for the 2020 Billboard Music Awards held in Los Angeles on Wednesday (October 14), which was hosted by Kelly Clarkson, and had guest performances by Sia and Alicia Keys.
Nicole Richie: The designer has gone through many stages style wise. Boho babe. Then she had a long love affair with vintage. Now she’s wearing fresh-off-the-runway looks from Christian Siriano. Lizzo also wore Christian Siriano at this event, but Nicole’s look made a totally different statement as sheer continues to be a perennial trend.  I know many of you are over sheer, and will no doubt note point to the “granny pants,” but  I love how the floral appliqués gives this look a luxe feel.  I had this dress on my wish list for Araya A. Hargate, but Nicole more than does justice to this extravagant piece.

Lil Nas X: No one is surprised to see Lil Nas X make a style statement on the red carpet at this event. Â The country garb of stetson hats and cowboy boots makes way for a slick pistachio and pink hued Gucci python suit. Â The pussy-bow blouse really hammers home the ’80s vibe of this look which was my favourite of the night.

Khalid: I have to say the men really took the top honours in terms of style, because like Lil Nas X, Khalid was looking very sharp in his Versace Fall 2020 Swarovski crystal embroidered shirt depicting the optical Virtus Animalier pattern. He was dazzling as much as the five awards he picked up on the night.

Doja Cat: I’m not a fan of Doja’s style as it feels so borrowed from Lil Kim, Nicki Minji, and the Kardashian-Jenners. She’s such a unique character that I wish she would forge her own path style-wise. This type of nearly nude and embellished dress from Georges Hobeika has been done so many times that the intended shock value is very much non existence. Does she look gorgeous? Absolutely. I do love the cinnamon hue hair and the way both her Lorraine Schwartz jewels and Amina Muaddi lilac shoes complemented the crystals on her dress, but I would like to see more from her.

Julia Michaels: I didn’t recognise the singer with this new darker hair colour. Her style is usually more modern, so I was a little taken back by this frothy number from Bicholla. I think I could’ve liked this had the length not been so awkward, and/or she had not opted for those patent leather Gianvito Rossi over-the-knee boots which make no sense to me.
Addison Rae: The tik toker wore a black sheer and satin shaping dress from the Mugler Fall 2020 collection, which she styled with Jimmy Choo ‘Tesca’ sandals.
