Kelly Clarkson hosted the 2020 Billboard Music Awards for the third consecutive year on Wednesday (October 14); opening the show with a remarkable performance of Whitney Houston’s ‘Higher Love.’
She had seven looks in total which saw her stick to a silver, gold and black theme.
The first look is one of a few Balmain numbers she wore at this event.
I can’t say I am a huge fan of the fringe detailing. I get they probably wanted to give to present one country inspired look, but this feels a bit dated to me.
The second look was also Balmain. You’ll probably recognise this one as it was recently worn by Jennifer Lopez on World of Dance. Jennifer wore the look more as a cape, whereas Kelly’s version is more like a dress, and has been lined for full coverage.
This was probably her best look of the night.
This gold Balmain Fall 2020 dress is absolutely beautiful, I love how it flows so freely, but I am confused as to why they added that extra drape at the front.
If it wasn’t for the embellishments and head wear, this Roberto Cavalli look would’ve totally passed me by.
I wasn’t too enamored by the high stiff collar on the fifth look. This feels a bit matronly to me, despite the embellishments.
Kelly’s second gold gown was from Retroféte. Usually their designs are drenched in sequins but this shimmering metallic wrap dress is what disco dreams are made of.
The final gold gown needs no introduction. Alexander Vauthier. As I said in Taraji P. Henson’s post, we’ve seen different iterations of this ruched look many times before, and that’s because they are endlessly flattering.
