2020 Film Independent Spirit Awards Red Carpet Roundup

Here are the rest of the attendees who joined Jennifer Lopez, Renée Zellweger and Scarlett Johansson on the blue carpet for the 2020 Film Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday (February 8) in Santa Monica, California.

Kaitlyn Dever:  The actress couldn’t have selected a more perfect look in this Valentino Pre-Fall 2020 tulle and floral embroidered gown.  I love the delicate sparkle which adds a magical, fairy-tale finish to this piece.

Taylor Russell:  This young star continue to prove why she is on my one-to-watch list.  There is a cute, yet cool vibe  oozing from this Chanel Resort 2020 look which felt fresh enough for a day-time awards ceremony by the beach. However, it just wasn’t Chanel’s night when it came to footwear.  First Naomi Watts, and now Taylor.   A black silk camelia brooch and Chanel Fine Jewelry ‘Coco Crush’ earrings and the ‘Tuxedo’ ring completed her look.

Laura Dern:  The breezy feel from this Valentino Spring 2020 dress places this look as one of my favourites on the night.  Some might feel that the red accessories were a bit too heavy  – especially the Schutz Maryana boots, but I love how she wasn’t afraid to add a pop of colour to this bold print.

Marisa Tomei:  The actress wore a Petar Petrov Spring 2020 suit which I love mostly for the lemon fresh blouse.  I’m was kinda on the fence about the boots, but I think the issue is more the length of the trousers.

Margaret Qualley:  I’m rarely excited by Margaret Qualley, but I’m a sucker for ombre, and this white, blue and pink pleated muslin dress from the Chanel Pre-Fall 2020 collection is simply divine. Roger Vivier ‘Gommettine’ shoes and selection of Chanel jewels completed her look.

Elisabeth Moss:  I had to look back to see if Elisabeth Moss had done suiting before, and it’s not as uncommon as you think. We’ve just got so used to seeing her in pretty dresses.  You’ll either find this Co suit a bit contrived, or a refreshing and well-executed change.  I believe in the latter.

Idina Menzel:  The actress wore a black peplum dress accented with cherry crystal embroidery from the Spring 2020 Michael Kors Collection.

America Ferrera:  The pregnant star was pretty in pink lace Self-Portrait Spring 2020. The bubble gum hue of her blazer and that cute bow sold this look to me.  I was worried that America had lost her love for colour.

Hunter Schafer:  Loewe is a good brand for fit for Hunter.  She appears to be softening when it comes to the structure of her red carpet looks if this Pre-Fall 2020 white pleated shirt featuring an oversized collar and double layer pleated skirt, and her Tom Ford look are anything to go by.  Love the dress, not so enthused by the hair.

Beanie Feldstein:  The actress was looking very pretty in this stone blue custom Markarian dress styled with Irene Neuwirth jewels and Christian Louboutin ‘Degratissimo Alta’ metallic leather platform sandals.

Emily Ratajkowski:  I don’t know about you, but I was getting a strong sense of deja vu from Emily in this Versace ruched sleeve dress from the Spring 2020 which she styled with the runway sandals.

Billie Lourd:  Dressed in a check Dior Pre-Fall 2020 black and navy wool dress, the J’Adior slingbacks didn’t incorporate the same sense of fun at the dress,

Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre:  The actress wore a beautiful floral embroidered Prada gown featuring floral appliqués on the bodice.  With so much detail it didn’t need much in terms of styling, but  her heart-shaped drop earrings and feather accented bag which had me swooning over this look.
