Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge Recycles For The Evelina London Children’s Hospital Visit & UK Holocaust Memorial Day Commemorative Ceremony

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge paid a visit to the Evelina London Children’s Hospital this morning (January 28) in England, following her two UK-Africa Investment Summi and Ely and Caerau Children’s Centre engagements last week.

It’s been a while since the Duchess repeated a look.

On this occasion she opted to re-wear her custom the black and white tweed Dolce & Gabbana skirt suit, which she first sported back in February 2019 when she attended the Royal Foundation’s ‘Mental Health in Education’ conference.

The styling for each look was exactly the same: Gianvito Rossi pumps and black tights, but on this occasion she opted to pinned her hair away from her face, which showcased her diamond Mappin & Webb Empress earrings.

Yesterday, Catherine and Prince William joined Holocaust survivors to mark the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp in London.

The Duchess wore a Catherine Walker grey coat dress with a distinctive black collar and a waist-cinching belt which she previously wore back in March last year, while on an engagement with the Queen.

This was an impeccable look for the occasion.

I don’t like the proportions of the first look, the length and the shape of the skirt with the jacket, gives her an odd silhouette. The second one is classic Kate.

She is looking extremely smart in both.

I would change the skirt cuts of these looks so the outfits look more modern and less ageing.

    Dowdy and drab!

I think the first look is adorable and she looks fabulous. I only wish she had worn boots. The second look is typical Kate. Fine but boring.

Both gorgeous and on brand for Kate.

She has the most bland and dowdy style. It ages her so much.

What and odd choice that Dolce & Gabbana is, on both occasions.
First: Why wear a knock off Chanel design when you can afford real Chanel. ??
    Second: .
Bit of D&G’s controversial history, for those unaware (or not near Google ?):

    • 2018 – D&G the releases 3 advertisements featuring a Chinese model, and a crude double entendre, that perpetuated racist stereotypes. Shortly thereafter screenshots are released of Stefano Gabbana saying more horrible things about Chinese people (he claimed to be hacked). Their upcoming Shanghai show was canceled and D&G products were nearly wiped from the Chinese luxury market.
    • 2017 – D&G uses the unfortunately common and ALWAYS tasteless fashion editorial setting of models in luxurious clothes juxtaposed with impoverished people & their communities. This time in Beijing, ahead of a show there.
    • 2016 – D&G names (& lists on their website) a sandal from their Spring collection, the “Slave Sandal”.
    • 2015 – These two GAY MEN said – Domenico: “You are born to a mother and a father — or at least that’s how it should be. I call children of chemistry, synthetic children. Rented wombs, semen chosen from a catalog.” Stefano: “The only family is the traditional one.”
    • 2012 – D&G send models down their Spring runway in Blackamoor earrings (think Aunt Jemima, and other blackface-ish racist imagery, if you’re American)

Sadly, I’m sure I missed something… and I continue to be perplexed as to why they still keep getting passes from stylists and celebrities.

And yes, I had way too much free time at work today. ?

Both are good, I like the frumpy exquisiteness of the second, the tailoring! Kate wears tights more than Zooey Deschanel because bare legs, not Prince Andrew’s *activities* cough, are unbecoming of royals apparently. It all adds up to ridiculousness, though remember how Kate wore shorter dresses with no tights when she was pregnant? Has Kate ever wore proper red lipstick?

The first look is less matronly than the second – so that’s something. The fit is always good but I can’t think of one other celeb or royal her age that would be caught dead in them.

+1 to “I can’t think of one other celeb or royal her age that would be caught dead in them.” I find the second dress like something a tween would wear but now that you mention it, I see matronly there as well.

I often forget she’s only in her 30’s. Her style is more suited to someone nearly twice her age.

    • Originalmeme January 28, 2020 at 11:47 pm #

She dresses appropriately for a woman who will one day the Queen Consort. Her clothes are always impeccably tailored and she stays true to her style. I think she looks lovely on both.

    • Dominos January 29, 2020 at 7:14 am #

Frankly thats BS and something people always say to excuse her dressing like a 56 year old secretary. There are other one day Queens out there and they dress fashionably and age appropriately. Boring doesn’t equal Royal.

    Boring. ..

  12. Phee phee January 28, 2020 at 8:35 pm #

She looks good of course. I prefer the first one. Its got bounce.
I like the first and second wear of it equally…

she looks perfectly polished and appropriate as usual
