Gugu Mbatha-Raw Shines In Dolce & Gabbana For The ‘Motherless Brooklyn’ LA Premiere

Gugu Mbatha-Raw Shines In Dolce & Gabbana For The 'Motherless Brooklyn' LA Preniere

Following her slightly uninspiring look for the 2019 Governors Awards, Gugu Mbatha-Raw was shining brightly for at the premiere of Warner Bros Pictures’ ‘Motherless Brooklyn’ on Monday (October 28) in Los Angeles, California.

Finished in shimmering silvertone sequins, this glamorous figure-hugging Dolce & Gabanna gown falls to a gently flared hem creating a stunning statement piece.

Some might feel the black ribbon was a bit unnecessary, but I like the way it cinches in her waist and provides a nice contrast so this wasn’t heavy on the disco-ball vibe.

Teased curls, and pearl earrings completed her look.

This’s a lovely look. Black ribbon doesn’t seem too heavy, as it’s matching with her hair.

She looks perfectly gorgeous h2t! BDOTW contender!

This is perfection for me…I love the black ribbon.

I am always a bit disappointed that people keep turning to Dolce & Gabbana, especially for dresses like this that didn’t need to be D&G (a sequin dress can be offered by a lot of brands, versus perhaps a house signature like their Sicilian pattern mixing). It’s nice but for me the house is synonymous with prejudice.

I don’t quite understand. The dress didn’t “need” to be D&G? Then why did they make it if not to be worn?

    • Guest October 30, 2019 at 12:14 pm #

Didn’t need, in the sense that other designers are also producing beautiful, sequinned column dresses that her stylist could have sought out.

They can make it, but many people have chosen not to endorse &G in recent years.

BDOTW please! I love her hair and makeup here. Gorgeous compliment to a perfect dress!

As usual she looks flawless. I think this dress would be fantastic around the holiday season but it’s just so much fun any time of the year.

Really? It gets me in the festive mood.

It’s the most fun, ‘she came to party’ look that I recall seeing her in but still retaining her always elegance.

I love this look. She is glowing. the dress is beautiful. The ribbon I think adds some interest.

I agree – the ribbon definitely adds to the gown. She looks happy and like she’s having fun

She looks good though we’ve seen this dress a hundred times. I hate the bow.

The hair makes the whole look feel dated like a 2008 leona Lewis gown.
I’m on the fence with this look.

I think for those of us with natural hair this is a good look. What is updated natural hair? Straightened?

She looks spectacular, strong week already.

  12. Catarina_M October 29, 2019 at 4:01 pm #

I love it, ribbon and all.

    She looks lovely.
I don’t really like the ribbon, a bit heavy, but it’s minor.
