Rooney Mara In Givenchy Haute Couture – ‘Joker’ Venice Film Festival Premiere

Rooney Mara In Givenchy Haute Couture - 'Joker' Venice Film Festival Premiere

You may have immediately been experiencing a feeling of déjà vu when Rooney Mara joined Cate Blanchett on the red carpet for the ‘Joker’ Venice Film Festival premiere on Saturday (August 31).

That’s because she wore a gown that was quite similar to her 2018 Met Gala look.

While she donned this Givenchy Spring 2018 Haute Couture design in its unmodified runway form last year, here she returned to her favoured monochromatic palette.

That said, I really appreciated the extra flash and dazzle rendered in the original look, so I found this creamy-white version to be a bit one-note — despite how well the actress wears the reserved elegance of this caped dress.

Which did you prefer?

I like the dress and it looks good on her but it needs some ooomph. Softer hair, accessories, makeup. Something! As stands it’s just a dull look.

Boring but it’s not her usual black

How many versions of this dress have we’ve seen. Imagine how tired we are *rose McGowan voice*

Megan markle wore something like this, hers was in a brown colour

I prefer the Met Gala version, definitely more interesting and it was a rare step outside of her comfort zone for her. But I still think she is looking pretty radiant here, I do like this look as well.

I prefer the original, this version falls flat. I wish she shake it up more. I feel she has stayed in ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ mode forever since filming.

I feel like she’s worn this several times before. Would have loved to have seen her in the runway version.
