What are your thoughts on this collection FC ? 🙂

Beautiful, but repetitive as we have seen half of these gowns already a few times before on the runway.

I feel the same…Beautiful but no excitement…It’ll depend on the wearer to sell these looks to me. High hopes for Cannes ! 😉

Bows and feathers? Really? Women are claiming their power but Elie puts women into grown up versions of little girl dresses. So disappointed over this collection.

      …rolls eyes…

These kind of comments are the reason why people in general condemn feminism. Where do “claiming power” and wearing “bows and feathers” become incompatible?

Is a woman wearing bows and feathers a powerless woman? Is a woman wearing a suit a lesbian? Is a woman wearing cleavage a slut? A woman wearing a turtle neck a frigid?

Power should be (among many other -perhaps more important- things) to wear and not be judged or boxed, which is, Cindy, exactly what your comment does.

Well said J. Not entirely sure what bows and feathers have to do with women “claiming their power”.
This is yet another great collection from Elie Saab. Yes it’s repetitive but it’s Elie Saab. His job is to make beautiful gowns not break fashion grounds. I’m always pleased with his work because I appreciate it for what it is and nothing more.

not at all excited with the bows…..and these embellishments and silhouettes have been done to death.

LOVE these! I absolutely adore the boys. I NEED to see Lily James in that dress!

    • Mimi January 26, 2018 at 4:03 pm #

      Bows** not boys

Can’t wait to see these looks (lined and sans bows) on the RC.

  7. Lora January 26, 2018 at 3:27 pm #

I can see Gal Gadot in that one you’ve picked for Naomi Campbell

    • Albina January 26, 2018 at 6:37 pm #

Unfortunately, Elie Saab can`t dress Gal Gadot. He`s Lebanese, she is from Israel. Israel and its northern neighbour Lebanon have technically been at war since 1948.

By the way, Elie Saab has been slammed for dressing Israeli actress Gal Gadot in a blue dress

I don’t really like how feathers and bows are utilized here, the bow on the gown for Fan, in particular, looks like it was attached last minute. I can see how Hailee Steinfeld can sell hers.

    • JHH January 26, 2018 at 4:17 pm #

ITA with everything you say here. I hope if we see these on the RC some of the bows and feathers are toned down a bit. The bows on the ones for Fan Bingbing, Lily James and Princess Victoria look especially silly. This feels like the bows were slapped on to make the dresses look different from prior seasons’ designs and BTW it did not work.

      • Nat39 January 26, 2018 at 9:10 pm #

Exactly. The bows feel so lame and random. The ones for Fan, Princess Victoria…the worst. And the feathers feel kinda heavy-handed and unrefined, don’t have to go far – just compare them to the delicately artful feathers we’ve just seen from Ralph&Russo on Lupita at SAG.

What will Aishwarya RB wear to Cannes, one wonders.

    • Thomas Monks January 26, 2018 at 3:20 pm #

Something tells me the Fall 2017 Couture collections, maybe custom Cavalli. There hasn’t been much this season that has screamed Aishwarya at Cannes to me.

I don’t like any of these. Ruffles, bows, feathers, sheer…NO
