‘Youth’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere Red Carpet Roundup

youth cannes film festival premiere red carpet round up

Here is a roundup of the other attendees at the premiere of ‘Youth’ during the 68th annual Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday (May 20) in Cannes, France.

Chanel Iman: I’m not surprised that Chanel served up one of the few Cannes-worthy gowns from this group. The model is forever in Cannes mode with her love of pretty princess gowns. She’s clearly in her element here wearing Donna Karan Atelier – despite the long face.

Joan Smalls: The model made her first appearance on the red carpet at Cannes wearing an Alaïa white two-piece breezy look. While this is more Independent Spirit Awards than Cannes, I can’t deny how gorgeous she looks.

Doutzen Kroes: Much improved over last night’s offering, the model served up plenty of sex appeal wearing a Mugler Pre-Fall 2015 gown.

Lara Stone: While her bronze chainmail vintage Gianni Versace gown is stunning, I can’t get over the bust area which gives her a ‘four boob’ bulge. The hair is a total miss here too.

Karlie Kloss: It looks like the models are serving up their own style of glamour this year, with Karlie turning to Louis Vuitton for her red carpet look. While this dress is fresh and modern on Karlie, it just falls flat at Cannes.

Izabel Goulart: The model continues to be seduced by Zuhair Murad. Once again, this white beaded silk tulle gown with sheer panels from the Pre-Fall 2015 fits like a glove, so you can’t knock how great she looks despite the predictability of it all.

Anja Rubik: The model wore an Atelier Versace Spring 2015 gown which would’ve been pretty boring without that sexy web-like detail snaking all over her body.

Soo-Joo Park: Putting forth an ever-so-elegant stance on the red carpet, the model looked breath-taking wearing an Oscar de la Renta Spring 2015 peplum gown.

Imogen Waterhouse: Suki Waterhouse’s younger sister wore a navy blue Dior gown for the occasion.

Kendall Jenner: Also in Alaïa, the model seemed quite miserable on the red carpet. Looking at her outfit, I understand why.

    Soo-Joo Parks dress is gorgeous!

  2. magan May 21, 2015 at 14:49 #

Soo-Joo Park elegancia en estado puro. Las aberturas interminables y las transparecias aburren.

  3. Regina May 21, 2015 at 11:54 #

Soo-Ju looks beautiful, the rest are BLAH. And why is another Waterhouse on the red carpet? Will nepotism ever end?

  4. Kateryna May 21, 2015 at 10:34 #

Actually, both of Alaia’s dresses (white and black) look nice. Not sure why the black one was criticized. The dresses are original and fun and summer-appropriate. Carlie’s dress by LV is nice but not season-appropriate. The rest of the dresses are not nice, the blue Dior one being the absolute worst.

What a completely uninspiring line-up. Joan Smalls, unappealing facial expression aside, looks like she’s going to a 90s prom. Yawn.

  6. Alina May 21, 2015 at 06:16 #

    Joan looks OK.

  7. Shaina Cadet May 21, 2015 at 05:31 #

Soo-Joo Park and Izabel Goulart look amazing. So happy to see that its not black.

  8. FelFs May 20, 2015 at 23:24 #

You should take a look at Sara Sampaio’s latest looks, specially the one for this premiere, she has been looking really good.

  9. Joe May 20, 2015 at 22:45 #

Kendall’s looked great in motion — hence the twirling. But looked terrible when standing still. Her Instagram had beautiful photos of it lying down, though. Maybe more of an editorial dress?

    But all in all, disappointing.

  10. Christine May 20, 2015 at 22:19 #

    Joan looks OK.

  11. pinksugar May 20, 2015 at 22:14 #

Joan and Kendall both look cheap and tacky. And Kendall looked anything but miserable twirling around the carpet for photographers. I found her behavior a tad obnoxious considering she’s not even an actress (and far from a movie star). Of this batch I like Doutzen, Chanel, and Soo-Ju.

  12. alvaro_spain May 20, 2015 at 22:11 #

I don’t know why, but i’m captivated by Izabel Goulart’s dress… Love it!

  13. Zineb May 20, 2015 at 21:58 #

Kendall, ugh, how classy of you to show your panties on the Cannes red carpet ! Trashy is the word.
I actually like Lara’s vintage Versace, it is just not styled right, bad hair / make up / shoes.
Joan is my all-time favorite model, she got that little something that makes her look dope whatever she wears.
The best dressed model tonight would be Soo-Joo, you can’t top a lovely Oscar de la Renta gown.

    • Aminet May 20, 2015 at 22:12 #

Everybody this year at Cannes showed their panties- including the majority of models on this post, so your comment about Kendall seems to just showcase ignorance.

      • Zineb May 20, 2015 at 22:43 #

I see I’m dealing with a Kardashian fan, this is a website where we talk fashion and style, not celebrity fandom, I apologize if criticizing Kendall’s trashy appearance on the Cannes red carpet hurt your feelings.
I’ve been following the Cannes red carpet coverage from day 1 and I always criticized those who showed up looking trashy model or not.
I don’t even know why I’m explaining myself, this is my opinion and you should go ahead with your life if you don’t like mine.

        • Aminet May 20, 2015 at 23:55 #

Not a Kardashian fan here, just letting you know it sounds ignorant when you target one person for something many have done at the same event, in the same day, on the same blog post. I won’t lose sleep over your comment LOL. Good day, hater.

          • Zineb May 21, 2015 at 01:02 #

There’s nothing to let me know dear, you’re either blind or a hypocrite because Kendall is the only one looking like a trashy mess with her panties on display, even FC declined to comment on her look. I singled her out because she was the only one looking trashy, the other models looked either sexy, chic or glamorous.
FYI “hater” is a term used and invented by 12 year olds, so I’m guessing that’s your age? Go to bed hun and keep away from KUWTK, it’ll make you stupid if you’re not already.

          • Kateryna May 21, 2015 at 10:37 #

Totally agree with you. When Natalie Portman wears a horrendous dress, or Keira Knightly, everyone is so delighted. And here – where can one even see the panties????

            • towanda May 21, 2015 at 11:42 #

i must be blind . i don’t see kendall’s panties. actually i see Joan Smalls’ panties.

              • Vera May 21, 2015 at 18:08 #

Yup, @towanda. And not only that, I can see Anja’s nonexistent panties! Really, talking about how trashy somebody looks with panties in display when there is somebody else underwear-free?

  14. Aminet May 20, 2015 at 21:58 #

These should be the girls we look to to give us the best looks, but everyone looks a HOT MESS! (Minus the hot and double the mess). Sad. xx

  15. Cecilia May 20, 2015 at 21:52 #

Yikes! Kendall’s look today is one of the worst I have seen on her. I can kind of understand where she was going with this look, but there are so many elements that let this outfit down. For instance, the fit of the skirt is all wrong and it is way too long. I mean, Joan Smalls look consists of a very similar top and skirt only in white, and she wears it 100 times better. Unlike Kendall, Joan looks amazing!

  16. Yeliz May 20, 2015 at 21:42 #

Not really liking any of these looks.

  17. Chris May 20, 2015 at 21:40 #

I find Karlie’s look to be really refreshing for her standards. Cannes or not, I like it.
I think Kendall Jenner looks good no matter what – I agree that the dress isn’t good, but yeah.

  18. Fanny May 20, 2015 at 21:39 #

Izabel stands out for me here because
    a) her dress is kinda fun and va-va-voom
    b) she looks like she really enjoys being there

  19. bfly May 20, 2015 at 21:32 #

Omg! (In a bad way)…. This group looks so tortured! I’m starting to lose faith in fashion all together after this tragic Cannes season. It’s real bad when I can say that Karlie looks the best–in Louis Vuitton, no less. Geeez…

  20. Jay May 20, 2015 at 21:31 #

I like Kloss’s look, but not for Cannes. Really loving the Jenner, Smalls, and Park looks though!

  21. Nat39 May 20, 2015 at 21:28 #

Rather underwhelming. So-Joo Park’s gown is delightful in this bunch and Izabel looks stunning in her ZM, she has what it takes to rock it.

  22. Iva May 20, 2015 at 21:28 #

    I actually like Karlie’s look.

  23. Monica May 20, 2015 at 21:20 #

I really liked the way Madalina Diana Ghenea was dressed for the premiere and the photocall. I was hoping to see her on your website, since she was one of the few women dress ok for the event. You didn’t like it?

    • Bec May 21, 2015 at 03:34 #

It was sheer, beaded and feathered……I’m guessing no. haha

  24. Ellie Ramsay May 20, 2015 at 21:16 #

hmmm… I expected more from Kendall xxx

  25. kane May 20, 2015 at 21:14 #

Now Chanel’s dress is the wrong kind of deja vu to Nieves’ look back then.

All in all, what a miserable bunch.
