Michelle Obama In Zac Posen – BET’s ‘Black Girls Rock!’

Michelle Obama In Zac Posen - BET's 'Black Girls Rock!'

Michelle Obama attended the BET’s ‘Black Girls Rock!’ event at NJ Performing Arts Center on Saturday (March 28) in Newark, New Jersey where she received a standing ovation for her powerful, inspirational speech.

After wearing so much colour and prints during her tour of Asia last week, some might be relieved that the First Lady opted for a white, off-the-shoulder, knee-length dress from Zac Posen’s Fall 2015 collection, which marries classic elegance with contemporary design.

I love how the bustier gives this look a hint of sex appeal and the styling of the look, which included silver jewels and Jimmy Choo pumps, complemented the delicate embellishments on her frock.

I’m sure there will be some debate about her shoulders being on display, but I think she looks undeniably chic from head to toe and even as a lover of colour and print, I think this look beats all of her looks from the Asian tour.

Michelle Obama has rewritten the book on what First Ladies can and cannot wear. That being said, I love this dress from the waist down but the fit through through the chest. But with shoulders and arms like she has, she makes this dress still look stunning. Love the hair and for once the shoes.

Not a fan of the hair or how the dress sits around the chest area.

She looks amazing as usual. She is not a Royal so she can afford to show off her shoulders which are her best features imo. I need to know what she does to have such toned arms! Jealous 😀

+1 There’s no reason she can’t show off her amazing shoulders. We are far more relaxed about our First family than England is about their Royals. I love that she can look just as amazing in something simple like this as she does in bold prints.

The shoulder thing makes me laugh just because I remember reading about Jackie Kennedy’s fashion choices and the reason she started out with sheer necklines and one-shouldered dresses is because JFK wasnt sure how the American people would react to seeing their First Lady’s shoulders. They turned out to be fine with it and she started wearing strapless. I cant help but laugh and roll my eyes over this still being a topic of sensitivity 50 years later.
