Gucci Fall 2012

Frida Giannini created an opulent, romantic collection in dark, sensual hues with a velvety feel for Gucci’s Fall 2012 collection, which opened Milan Fashion Week.

The venue was pitch black but for a spotlight on the model taking to the runway wearing the dark, decadent pieces.

Jackets, velvet skirts, fitted long-sleeve dresses, oversized cropped leather jackets, sweaters and sheer lace-up blouses kick-started the presentation. Some had military accents, but the vibe was fearless femininity rather than androgynous chic.

Midway through the presentation we saw glimpses of colour via the floral prints on a maxi dress and chic PJs, before moving onto deep berry, sapphire blue and forest green.

For evening wear, Frida returned back to black to present a collection of billowing chiffon gowns luxuriously embellished with micro crystals and sequins in a beautiful floral pattern.

I’m pretty sure we will see Florence Welch wearing one of the finale dresses before the first buds of spring.

Key accessories included bejewelled bow-shaped hair clips, suede peep-toe ankle boots, leather satchels, crocodile saddlebags and flat riding boots.
