Katy Perry didn’t take to the red carpet at the 2013 People’s Choice Awards but she was in attendance to collect her four awards, including ‘Favourite Female Artist’, ‘Favourite Pop Artist’, ‘Favourite Music Video’ for ‘Part of Me’, and ‘Favourite Music Fan Following’ for KatyCats.
Our most improved star of 2012 kick-started the new year in the way she ended the last, looking effortless and sophisticated.
Dressed in a Valentino Fall 2012 number, her long-sleeve black dress with fitted bodice and flared skirt featured floral and gold embroidered details.
Black suede Jimmy Choo ‘Eros’ pumps, gold Sylva & Cie drop earrings and her braided updo, adorned with a gold Jennifer Behr headpiece, completed her look.
If there was ever an event for Quirky Katy to come out to play it was the People’s Choice Awards, but she opted for something mature and sophisticated.

How very restrained of her, considering she was up for 4 awards! She looks lovely, but I am a teensy bit disappointed she didn’t go for something a bit more fun and glamorous.
I do miss the quirky Katy. She looks decent but this is too aging. I notice that both Her and Lea Michele went in new style directions since they started dating (Cory, John) New love can change style I guess?

I seem to be the only negative voice. I hate this dress–she looks like Heidi (from the story, not the runway) with that dress and her hairstyle. She doesn’t have to go quirky for me, but this is just bad.

While I think she looks great here and much improved from the candy days, I think this dress is more suited for someone like Kiera Knightly. It just doesn’t really fit with Katy’s persona so I’m a bit disappointed by her choice in wearing it to an awards show.
Katy’s said so herself, she can’t be quirky forever and I agree.
That being said, she could have opted for better pumps.
Is the PCAs quirky? I always thought it was mainstream and rather conservative, thought Katy was event appropriate.
For events such as MTV or kids’ choice awards quirky Katy is fine but everywhere else I prefer classic Katy though a few looks have been a tad aging.
