Blake Lively’s Holiday Party Look Comes Straight From the Chanel Archives

Blake Lively was spotted making her way to the Brent Neale holiday capsule launch, held at Majorelle on New York City’s Upper East Side on Tuesday.

The actress, who has quite the Chanel collection when it comes to handbags, opted for a blue sequinned mini dress from the Chanel Fall 1994 archives. What’s a holiday party without a bit of shimmer?

The dress might look familiar, as Lily-Rose Depp previously wore it to The Idol premiere during the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.

Lily-Rose stayed closer to the runway styling, retaining the floral accent, while Blake made the dress her own by reworking the existing lace trim into a fan-like detail at the neckline. I love how this small adjustment gives the dress a new personality, while the black satin bows retain the charm of the original design.

Unfortunately, my enthusiasm doesn’t extend to the accessories.

For someone with such an extensive Christian Louboutin collection, I’m disappointed by these leather and PVC Un Bout pumps. I’m convinced she must have a strass-embellished pair in this exact shade of blue that would have been a far better match for the dress. Or even a cute pair of mules.

And then there’s the Chanel bucket bag, which feels far too daytime for a sequinned mini dress at an evening event.

We know her as the queen of statement jewellery, but she took a rare understated approach on this occasion, which I actually don’t mind, considering how much detail the dress already has.

For me, the dress is a winner, especially with Blake’s modifications.
