Ayo Edebiri Keeps It Simple in Chanel at TIFF

Ayo Edebiri attended the premiere of Clarissa during the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival at the Princess of Wales Theatre on Friday, where she also debuted a new braided hairstyle.

We love Ayo when she serves up something unexpected, with her Edward Cuming look being a perfect example, but when she is in that mood, it doesn’t always pay off as we saw with her Giovanna Flores look.

And occasionally, it is fine to play it safe and simple, which is where this Chanel Fall 2026 Haute Couture white tweed dress comes in.

I know white tweed and Chanel hardly sounds like a major departure, but I really like this on Ayo. The asymmetry gives the dress enough character, while the oversized floral and bird embroidery, along with the black detailing, breaks up the white and stops it from feeling too one-dimensional.

I prefer how the dress sits on Ayo, as she’s not competing for space with the shoulder detail.

Would I call this one of Ayo’s most exciting Chanel moments? No. And it does not have to be. I’m happy to see her take the straightforward route when the result looks this good.
