Anya Taylor-Joy Wore Balmain Promoting ‘Lucky’

There was one more look from Anya Taylor-Joy yesterday, joining the Tom Ford, Chloé and Ferragamo looks she wore while continuing to promote her new TV series, Lucky.

If you’re anything like me, your first thought might have been that Anya looked like someone who had spent the day at a beach club or on a yacht before heading into town for lunch.

This Balmain Resort 2027 look by Antonin Tron reads as luxury holiday dressing. The magenta bikini top immediately shifts the outfit into swimwear territory, while the olive cardigan is exactly the kind of lightweight knit you throw on when moving from the beach to a restaurant. Her Tiffany & Co. Elsa Peretti® Bean necklace only reinforced that effortless resort mood.

Some might ask, “Are you really complaining about this look during a New York heatwave?”

Personally, I’m not. I just think it’s miscast. If I’d seen this on holiday in Capri, Saint-Tropez or the Greek islands, I would have thought it was perfect. For promoting a television series in New York, however, it feels like it’s in the wrong setting.

If she’d swapped the bikini top for a fitted camisole or bodysuit, I think we’d be having a completely different conversation. The rest of the outfit could easily have worked for a daytime press appearance.

If nothing else, this felt like an enticing preview of Antonin Tron’s Balmain. I may not have been sold for this occasion, but it definitely made me curious about what comes next.
