Rita Ora Wore Do Long To ‘Descendants: Wicked Wonderland’ LA Premiere
The LA premiere of Disney’s Descendants: Wicked Wonderland took place last night, with Rita Ora returning as the Queen of Hearts.
As someone who sat through Descendants: The Rise of Red (against my will) with my niece, that experience actually helped me put this Do Long gown into perspective.
If you’ve seen the film and its costumes, you’ll know this look isn’t out of place. It speaks to the heightened fantasy of the Descendants universe. It’s gloriously over-the-top, theatrical and unapologetic, which has always been Rita’s fashion MO.
Had I not seen the previous film, I probably wouldn’t have understood this choice. But within the context of the franchise, it feels entirely on theme, both stylistically and in its rich crimson colour palette.
Rita has promoted both Descendants films exclusively in shades of red, reinforcing the Queen of Hearts’ signature colour at every stop. It’s a simple approach, but an effective one that keeps the connection between the actress and her character immediately recognisable.
Sometimes a premiere look doesn’t need to stand on its own; it simply needs to serve the world of the film, and this one does exactly that.
Stylists: Wayman Bannerman and Micah McDonald.
