Meryl Streep Wore Chanel To ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ Tokyo Premiere
Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway were colour-coordinated for The Devil Wears Prada 2 Tokyo premiere, which took place on Monday.

If you’re anything like me, you were expecting Meryl Streep to follow her usual route (see her Schiaparelli dress for reference), so this Chanel Pre-Fall 2026 ensemble – a red, white, blue, and black knit fringed jacket and skirt – came as a surprise.
That said, this pivot lands far more convincingly than her co-star’s look. There’s a clear editorial authority here that taps into Anna Wintour territory without feeling like she is wearing a costume. The structure of the jacket, paired with the graphic knit and fringe detailing, gives the look direction while still reading natural on her.
I’m also glad she removed the runway collar, as it opens up the neckline and avoids competing with the jacket’s strong pattern.

It has to be said that this is one of those rare occasions where those Chanel two-tone pumps actually work. Here, they echoing the graphic contrast of the outfit perfectly.
Chanel shades and a Chanel round quilted clutch, sourced from Fashionphile, completed her look, along with Fred Leighton 1980s black enamel and diamond hoop earrings by Bvlgari, and a 1930s ring.
