Emerald Fennell Wore Giles Deacon To The ‘Wuthering Heights’ V&A Museum Digital Content Interview
While we await the Sydney premiere of Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights on Thursday, which will feel like something of a homecoming for leading actors Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, we are given one more considered look from the director herself, who attended the film’s digital content interview at the V&A Museum in London on Friday.

Emerald wore a bespoke Giles Deacon red skirt suit, anchored by a razor-sharp, structurally sculpted jacket that reads almost Victorian in posture. The elongated satin skirt tempers that severity, introducing romanticism beneath the rigidity, much like the novel itself: emotion against discipline, passion held in check by formality.
Where Margot Robbie’s looks have channelled emotional volatility, Emerald’s precision suggests authorship. She is not inside the storm; she is shaping it.
The setting mattered too. Positioned within the V&A’s archival library, surrounded by historic texts, the look framed Emerald as a director in dialogue with literary canon rather than simply promoting a film.
On this occasion, we also heard directly from the designer. Giles Deacon said, “It’s been a total delight to design this piece for Emerald. I love her idiosyncratic vision and precision, and the way she brings an exacting intelligence to everything she touches. The suit was conceived to feel both strong and romantic — a quiet expression of authority with an emotional undercurrent.”
That duality is fully realised here. Strength is carried through the tailoring and saturated red, while romanticism emerges in the fluid satin skirt and the way the train pools softly across the floor.

A heart pendant necklace and cross earrings added a subtle symbolic note without disrupting the suit’s authority.
Emerald has worn many compelling looks throughout this press tour, but this may be the one that most clearly articulates her role, given space to breathe away from the cast, allowing both glamour and command to register with clarity.
