Coco Jones Wore Karl Kani Performing At Super Bowl LX
Coco Jones paid homage to the late Whitney Houston as she performed Lift Every Voice and Sing, often referred to as the Black National Anthem, ahead of kick-off at the 2026 Super Bowl on Sunday, as the Seattle Seahawks faced the New England Patriots.

Before she sang a single note, the tribute was already clearly established. Her custom Karl Kani cropped white jacket, accented in red, black, and green in reference to the Pan-African flag, was paired with an asymmetric bubble skirt and a dramatic trailing train.

The look mirrored the La Coq Sportif tracksuit Whitney Houston wore when she performed the U.S. National Anthem at the 1991 Super Bowl, when the New York Giants faced the Buffalo Bills.
And if the jacket didn’t make the reference immediately obvious, the white headband certainly did. It served as a reminder of how indelible Whitney Houston’s Super Bowl moment remains, not just musically, but visually.
I loved the intent and clarity of the outfit, but the shoes felt slightly out of sync, yet this was a thoughtful, emotionally charged tribute.
