Carey Mulligan Wore Prada To The 2025 British Independent Film Awards
Carey Mulligan, a guest presenter at the 2025 British Independent Film Awards, gave us a surprise on Sunday evening.

The Ballad of Wallis Island actress, who has a long-standing allegiance to black dresses, arrived in a soft sage green Prada satin tec gown — a colour choice that immediately set this look apart from her usual red carpet playbook.
What drew me in first was the romance of it all. The pleated silk georgette softens the gown, giving it a romantic feel that we don’t often see from Carey. I’ll admit, I wasn’t entirely sold on the inlay detailing at first glance, but the more I look at it, the more convinced I am that it saves the gown from feeling too square on her frame. It brings contour, and interest.
Are the bodice pulls a tiny bit distracting? Yes. But I’m choosing to see the bigger picture here — this dress is oozing with classic Prada charm, and, crucially, not a crease in sight. For a fabric that usually betrays even the slightest bend of an elbow, that’s a small miracle.
Carey kept her beauty pared back with her signature no-makeup makeup, which suits the softness of the look. It’s understated, it’s different for her, and it’s genuinely lovely to see her step outside her comfort zone without abandoning her refined aesthetic.
