Cynthia Erivo Wore Givenchy To The 2025 Governors Awards
After a week of Elphaba-coded black looks worn in Paris, London and Singapore to promote Wicked: For Good, Cynthia Erivo took a night off the bewitching hue for something lighter for the 2025 Governors Awards ahead of tonight’s LA premiere. And when Cynthia switches gears, she doesn’t do it halfway.

The British actress arrived in Givenchy by Sarah Burton Spring 2026 mint duchesse satin sliced coat embroidered with shredded rose appliqué that cascades into a fringed skirt. It’s one of those runway pieces you assume will never appear on the red carpet, yet here it is in all its textural glory.
Yes, there’s a lot of volume. Yes, there’s a slight sense that the coat wants to wear her rather than the other way around. But Cynthia has the stature, the presence, and — importantly — the platform shoes to pull it off. We all know they’re hiding under that fringe, working overtime to stop the look from swallowing her whole.
And the matching Givenchy clutch was the right call — anything else would’ve felt like visual noise against an already busy look.

I know this will sit in a too much going on camp for some. In a sea of “nice gowns,” she delivered yet another fashion spectacle.
So tell me. Is she overwhelmed or are you obsessed?
MESSIKA jewels completed her look.
