Sydney Sweeney Wore Danielle Frankel To The ‘Americana’ LA Screening

Sydney Sweeney attended the Los Angeles special screening of her new film Americana, a modern-day Western crime thriller, on Sunday—but her red carpet look told a very different story. And not one I’m sure I want to follow.

Danielle Frankel is a bridal designer with real red carpet chops. Just look at Pamela Anderson’s green gown at The Naked Gun Berlin premiere. But this lemon-yellow moment on Sydney? I can’t get behind it. The satin corset and matching headband instantly bring Wonder Woman to mind, while the frothy tulle skirt could’ve been lifted from a high school prom circa 2006. All that’s missing are silver cuffs—though she did try to elevate the look with diamonds from EFFY Jewelry.

I understand the desire to break away from the bombshell mould, but this swings so far in the opposite direction that it leaves me confused. There is a middle ground, and this isn’t it.

Maybe—and I stress maybe—the look could’ve worked with a retro updo and those statement earrings, but that’s me really trying to make sense of it all. In the end, this look doesn’t just miss the mark—it feels like it skipped it entirely.
