Lupita Nyong’o Wore Naeem Khan To WOAH and Audi Celebrating Carrie Mae Weems and Tara Thomas
Following a quick jaunt to Lake Como for Chanel’s Resort 2026 show — and what felt like an eternal residency in fashion darkness — Lupita Nyong’o reappeared in New York for WOAH (Work of Art Holdings) and Audi’s Artist’s Table Spring edition. The event, titled A Recipe for Love!, brought together food, art, and community in a soul-nourishing celebration curated by artist Carrie Mae Weems and chef Tara Thomas. The theme was culture, innovation, and sustainability. The vibe? Elevated, meaningful, and clearly a perfect backdrop for Lupita to remind us who she is.

As Rev. Brown so rightly put it in Coming to America, “There is a God somewhere!” Because no sooner had I pleaded with the fashion universe for Lupita to find her way back to colour, she descended from the blackout and blessed us in Naeem Khan Resort 2024 dress. I am emotional, and I’m not ashamed to say so.

The dress had everything we love about Lupita’s most joyous fashion moments: vibrant colour, unapologetic graphic print, metallic shimmer, and a fringe hemline that begged for movement. It was a love letter to the days when her red carpet appearances were pure visual serotonin. Paired with electric blue pumps this look had flair, personality, and the freedom that comes from wearing something that feels like you.

You could feel it. She missed this. We all missed this.
For one glorious night, the tunnel of Chanel blackness opened up into a technicolour fantasy. A moment of reprieve. A moment of celebration. And a reminder that when Lupita wears colour, the fashion stars align.

Thank you, Lupita. Truly, EVERYONE.
