Soko Wore Seven Looks Promoting ‘Mayday’ & ‘The Blazing World’ During Sundance Film Festival

The 2021 Sundance Film Festival is underway.

This is the festival where bold statements are made.

It’s not the kinda festival where you’ll see Haute Couture gowns, but you do get the odd dress decked out in sequins.

At Sundance camels wool coats start trending.  Long sleeves are almost mandatory, celebs wear velvet from top to toe, and knitwear becomes a must-have, all because the festival is hosted in wintry Park City, Utah, where snow is on the ground in January.

In order to keep this year’s festival alive we have a virtual event, with Soko giving us plenty of looks while promoting her new film ‘Mayday’ and ‘The Blazing World.’

Of these seven looks, you will not see a camel coat or knitwear as this festival saw her WFH.

There are a lot of looks here, but this Gucci Resort 2021 outfit is the one I closely identify with the actress’ style.

Cool, kooky, with plenty of flare, Soko really typifies the very essence of the Gucci brand.  On some, this could’ve translated a tad costumey…clown-like if you will.  But I’m buying what she is selling here.

Next up we have two dresses from The Vampire’s Wife.

For some, this might be proof that they only make different versions of the same dress.  And it would be hard not to disagree.

However, aside from the colour and fabric, there are subtle differences which are related to the trims and frills, plus there is no denying that the Gothic vibe of this brand is also a perfect fit for Soko.

I feel like the Gucci 1955 Horsebit Boston bag, Gucci x Liberty holdall, jewels and embellished headband really helped each look shine and stand alone.

Sunnei stripes were up next.  Horizontal and vertical stripes aren’t easy to pull off at the best of times, so I can’t say that I’m crazy about this look, but she wears it well.

The Vampire’s Wife Unconditional floral-print silk dress possesses both a bold print and the longer sleeves to set it apart from the first two.

I love how the Gucci dragonfly embellished belt gives the look a slight edge as the dress looks like a vintage night dress due to its shapeless silhouette.

I wouldn’t have put Soko down as a floral dress kinda girl, but she looks beautiful here.

Yet more florals and another dress from The Vampire’s Wife.  I guess Soko is becoming a floral dress kinda girl after all.

Much like the black dress above, this I love how this Villanelle floral-print maxi dress ignites Soko’s gothic romantic mood.

If you’re feeling a case of deja vu, it might be because Keira Knightley wore a similar dress in a different colourway back in 2018.

Sunnei sure do love stripes.  This summery dress has a much cooler flair when styled with the hat, knee-high socks and daisy print Miu Miu daisy print platforms.

Should she have opted for the yellow pair?
