I always look forward to seeing Iris van Herpen represented on the red carpet, and there were two moments of the designer’s innovative perspective at the 2020 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, held on Sunday (February 9) at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills, California.
Rowan Blanchard: Now I generally love the techno lines and graphic edge of an Iris van Herpen dress.
But in this case, I was a bit too distracted by the illusion netting.
It was necessary, of course, but something about the top half of this look just didn’t do it for me.
Zoe Lister-Jones: The illusion neckline was back in action with this Iris van Herpen Fall 2018 Haute Couture crimson gown.
Despite its rich ruby hue, I found this look to be a far more whimsical endeavor, given the flirtation of the squiggly lines and slit silhouette.
But, I missed the fire and energy that was surely intended here.
As far as looks from this designer go, these fell a bit flat for me. What about you?
