Deepika Padukone In Dundas – ‘Rocketman’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Deepika Padukone In Dundas - ‘Rocketman’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Deepika Padukone dominated the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival premiere of ‘Rocketman’ on Thursday (May 16) in France.

The Indian actress’ appearance at this festival has been greatly anticipated, especially after last year.

I had first seen Deepika in this custom Dundas gown a few hours ago on her Instagram, and I was unsure about it, so I wanted to see it in all its glory on the red carpet.

My feeling hasn’t really changed.

And that is, it’s big for big’s sake.

Perhaps I’m still comparing to last year.

Perhaps my aversion to how crumpled silk taffeta always appears is kicking in.

Or perhaps that oversized black bow is too distracting.

I don’t hate it.  This is the kinda drama we need at Cannes.

I’m just not falling head-over-heels in love it with.  And I really wanted to.

Hair and beauty-wise, her teamed nailed it, with Lorraine Schwartz jewels and Aquazzura sandals completing her look.

Sorry but she looks total mess. Trying so hard but failed. What an unattractive looking woman.

    You nailed it.
    Big for big’s sake.
and Crumpled fabric was never a good look.
still more memorable than Priyanka’s, though that would have been so easy.

something about this entire look screams TRY-HARD.
I’m not mad at the thick eyeliner or that ponytail.but the dress itself is a big pile of puff and Deepika is drowning in it.
That gigantic black bow is the final straw that brought this look into comical territory rather than Dramatic.

I love it! She is bringing the much needed drama, and the intentionally oversized proportions give it a contemporary feel, and her fierce styling is fab(!!)

Too big for big’s sake exactly. And it’s a rumpled mess.

I admire the confidence of going out with such a big dress, but I’m just not a fan of the actual dress. I don’t find it beautiful, flattering or interesting, I know most people go to Cannes to get their photo taken and get press coverage, but this just seems too thirsty, particularly after last years gown.

I prefer her airport arrival look to the red carpet look. Kinda sad about that.

    Ugh no.

I think “big for big sake” is the perfect description here.

The drama I have been waiting for. I love the dress, I love the giant bow. Bows are so hot right now. She looks gorgeous.

The only thing I dont like is the high ponytail. It’s to severe. Leave the ponytails for Ms. Grande.

Yeah this is disaster territory. The hair makes her look like shes balding, unflattering makeup and that huge taffeta nightmare. Wanted attention for attention sake

    ummm

The eye makeup is horrible and the dress is a mess. This is a hard no from me.

Bloody Hell, will the blatant ripoffs of the new Valentino aesthetic never cease?!

There is only one Pierpaolo. His designs radiate romance and felt fresh when he did this oversized look *several seasons ago*. Peter Dundas is fantastic in his own way, he doesn’t need to try and imitate another designer.

    I like it

    Makeup and hair amazing

i like it. Really like the styling (makeup, hair)

      Totally fierce!

This is Cannes for sure but the execution is not quite right. The cut looks messy (the bow, the hem).

  18. Guest May 16, 2019 at 7:28 pm #

Not a fan. Don’t like it even a little bit. Its exactly what you said – it’s big for big’s sake.

The dress is a mess pile but the hair and makeup are outstanding!

Me neither, I’m feeling this, my biggest issue is with the hairstyle, that I love but not with the dress.

  21. Guest May 16, 2019 at 7:13 pm #

I agree. I feel like many of these models and actresses are wearing “big dresses” just for “big dress= amazing” sake if that makes sense. I feel like for Cannes, it shouldnt always be the bigger, the more fabric, the poofier the better?

This is not a winner in my opinion.

  22. Guest May 16, 2019 at 7:11 pm #

    Feels costumey and rather dated.

I see she’s still carrying that same energy from the met gala.
I don’t like it though. It’s just one big frumpy mess.

  24. Guest May 16, 2019 at 7:01 pm #

    met gala reject idea
the proportions are way off, she’s lost under all the fabric
