Millie Bobby Brown In Markarian – NETFLIX Celebration of the 2018 Awards Season Nominees

Millie Bobbie Brown attended NETFLIX’s Celebration of the 2018 Awards Season Nominees on Saturday (January 20).

The ‘Stranger Things’ actress and style darling wore a Spring 2018 Markarian dress with silver peep-toe pumps and what seems to be no jewelry at all.

This look is just furthering Millie’s position as a rising fashion star for me. The tinsel detailing is fashion-forward but also tons of fun, and the ruffles are just impeccable. The flawless fit only furthers how on point this is, and reminds us all how great it is to be young and have access to fashion!

I see what everyone is seeing and I tend towards the “this isn’t age appropriate” crowd. That said, it raises the intriguing question of what in this picture causes this,
    is it the hair,
    is it the make up,
is it the silhouette of the dress, which isn’t overly short, but form-fitting, “figure hugging” as the English language puts it so interestingly, and that hails back to classic Hollywood types of Marilyn and Jane Russell,
    is it the shoes,
is it the pose and right shin in particular?
There clearly is a mismatch with the fact that this is a 13 year old.
Comparing this especially to the Converse look, it all feels very fabricated and consciously chosen, which makes one wonder about the influences around her. And in the context over the oversexualisation of young girls in society, this just isn’t helpful.
Frankly, it makes me feel icky and god, am I glad that I am not a teenager anymore.

Okay, I opened the ‘age-appropriateness’ box on her next outfit, actually, but as soon as I saw this look I knew the age-police would be all over it.
I also loved this look on sight, it’s impeccably styled and absolutely flawless, she looks amazing, ten out of ten from me.
That said, I remember being thirteen; and looking like this would’ve been my absolute dream at this age! Nothing about this look is inappropriate in my opinion, it’s that phase where the princess-gown gets momentarily replaced as the holy grail of fashion by, yes, aging looks that make you feel older and therefore Cooler, which your friends would call ‘sexy’ if they could stop giggling long enough.
I mean, come on, she’s not drinking and doing drugs, there is no downward spiral here, she is living every thirteen-year-old’s fashion dream and I would never begrudge a girl her fun with fashion.
(wow, I didn’t mean to turn this into a rant)

she looks super cute. the makeup is too much for her

  4. EmmaWoodhouse January 21, 2018 at 23:40 #

Nope, I’m not going to do it. I’m not going to wring my hands over what this ensemble MEANS for her mental wellbeing. She’s wearing neutral makeup and a dress that isn’t skintight/showing her underwear. It’s a cute, flirty party dress and she’s striking a fashion model pose because she’s a kid and it would be so exciting to wear clothes like these at that age! I love the dress and I love her.

    I cant with this. nope

  6. Ingri January 21, 2018 at 22:06 #

Love the dress, shoes are OK, the pose, expression and makeup is more appropriate for a 20-year old.

I hope she doesn’t grow up too fast and well follow in the footsteps of her child star predecessors… She is probably the most talented teen actress right now and she could definitely become a legend in her industry, so I hope her team keeps her sane, and helps her navigate Hollywood as a child.

I agree with the comments here only up to a point. I remember going to a wedding when I was 13 in a dress as short as this, wearing high heels. It was a huge occasion so it was justified. Her makeup, though, does make her look much older than she is. And considering this is show business and not a family gathering, I would probably share your fears that she is being sexualized… It’s not a simple issue. Child and teen actors need so much protection and guidance, not only on their looks but on every aspect of their careers.

The pearl clutcher comments are too rediculous here. The dress isn’t overly short and she looks fabulous! She’s almost 14 and I can tell you I wore dresses just as short and no one had to “fear for me.” Love how much fun she seems to have with fashion!

I imagine less people feared for you because you were not working in an industry full of predators and parents who are happy to routinely turn their kids out for money. People are worried for Millie because she is.

There’s a reason so many child stars end up phycologically scars drug addicts by the time they’re in their mid-20’s.

      • meme January 21, 2018 at 20:17 #

That’s why I commented that I fear for her. From what I’ve read, her parents, especially her father, are using her as an ATM and pushing her to be more mature than she really is. So many child stars have ended up a complete mess.

    • Charlotte January 21, 2018 at 20:07 #

The issue is not about the length of the dress.
She is dressed like a woman, something she is not! She is 13, she’s still a kid.

    • Jasmine January 22, 2018 at 03:00 #

I agree with you. The purpose is not to comment on her mental state or how she’s being treated, etc. I thought this was meant to be purely about fashion.
I think she looks great! So what if she’s mature for a 14 year old? She comes across that way in her videos on social media. And she carries herself really well.

  10. Dee January 21, 2018 at 17:36 #

This is not appropriate for a 13 year-old.

    • Charlotte January 21, 2018 at 17:54 #

And I think it’s a big problem to deal with this as if it was OK.

hate to use ‘should’ in fashion, but her team needs to know they are dressing a just-turned-teen here. feels like she skipped five years of little girl dresses on the way.

  14. Alina January 21, 2018 at 15:43 #

Sweet, girly dress. Her makeup team needs to dial it down a notch.

I love this look on her! It’s a bit more girly and fits her age more than the ones she usually wears, but doesn’t she look stunning?!

  16. Evita January 21, 2018 at 15:00 #

    LOVE, she looks perfect
