2017 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards Red Carpet Roundup

The stylish ladies were out in full force at the 2017 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards on Monday (November 6) in Brooklyn, New York.

Sara Sampaio: The Portuguese model charmed in a J Mendel Resort 2018 mini. The short shape and blush colour were enlivened with feathered appliqués. The dusty neutral tones and simple styling allowed the texture to be appreciated without the bird connotations.

Karlie Kloss:
Striking a shimmering statement, the model donned a Christian Dior frock. The long sleeves and ankle-length hemline had a prim feel, but the geometric pattern and shimmering details added much allure.

Lauren Santo Domingo: Also in a feathered confection, the Moda Operandi cofounder was clad in Calvin Klein Fall 2017. Similar to Sara, the textured look had a sophisticated finish thanks to the blush-toned feathers but hers were accented with red and yellow. Given the lightness of the dress, I would have preferred a softer shoe without the black details. You may remember that Julianne Moore wore this same dress to the Met Gala.

Hilary Rhoda: Mixing modern and vintage, the model wore a J. Mendel gown. The long gathered sleeves and high neck combined with the shimmering khaki fabric had a medieval vibe which was brought into current times courtesy of the cut and the black clutch.

Ashley Graham: Sophisticated, sultry outfits are what the model gravitates towards and this Victoria Glemaud dress definitely fits the bill. When something works, why deviate from it? She looked sensational in this, pulling off a tricky calf-length silhouette flawlessly.

Fei Fei Sun:
Another model in J Mendel, she opted for a dazzling Resort 2018 look. Festooned with sequins, sparkles and beading, it had a clear festive feel which was enhanced with the metallic clutch. The black sandals helped ground the megawatt sparkle.

Arizona Muse: The model presented a 70s elegance that might remind some of Cher. The Stella McCartney Spring 2018 maxi dress’s burnt orange hue was splendid with her skin, but it also highlighted the cape detail with rounded cut.

Martha Hunt: The model went for a plunging neck and high hemline in a Cushnie et Ochs Resort 2018 dress. Some might find it spring-like for this time of year, but it is a resort frock. Given the way it showed off her pins, I think it was a brilliant choice.

Teyana Taylor:
The actress has a sensational figure and this custom Baja East dress does highlight her shape, however, I think other looks have done it more successfully. What’s more, I felt she could have made more of a statement at the event and saved this for a more casual red carpet.

Paloma Elsesser: The golden colour of this Adam Selman Spring 2018 ensemble lit up the red carpet and the model’s skin tone, but I’m afraid some might find the overall effect to be sloppy. I understand how she wanted to expose some skin with the one shoulder like it was worn on the runway and by Riley Montana, but the half-worn jacket combined with the very long silhouette might have others wishing it was taken in more.

Taylor Hill: The Victoria’s Secret Angel looked sultry in a silver Prabal Gurung Fall 2017 dress. Lacking no shortage of details, it featured cut-outs, undone buttons and a high neck. With so much going on in the frock, simple styling would have allowed it to literally shine better. The earrings and strappy shoes weren’t as successful pairings as the clutch.

La La Anthony: The multi-hyphenate cut a stylish figure wearing custom Baja East. The one-shouldered style was elegant yet alluring with the textured fabric picking up the light beautifully.

Lais Ribeiro: Eschewing the gown for a suit, the black Cushnie et Ochs Resort 2018 coordinates were anything but stuffy thanks to the mix of hard and soft. The sharp shoulders of the jacket juxtaposed the long tie belt and the flared trousers. She opted not to wear a shirt underneath for a sultry vibe which was enhanced with the red lipstick.
