Amy Adams In Valentino – 2014 Golden Globe Awards

Amy Adams graced the red carpet at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (January 12) in Beverly Hills, California.

Amy, who was nominated for her role in ‘American Hustle’ wore a gown by Valentino Haute Couture from the Shanghai collection. And despite the Asian influence of the design, Amy’s dress seemed very reminiscent of the 70’s era in which ‘American Hustle’ is set. Maybe she felt some fashion crossover with her character.

The two different hues of red felt modern compared to the traditional red bombshell-style dresses normally seen on the red carpet. Amy’s gown was a mix of sex appeal–hello, plunging neckline!–and ladylike, thanks to the soft demure skirt.

The actress accessorized wisely with Brian Atwood shoes, a long gold chain pendant necklace, and diamond drop earrings.

This is a bit of a departure from Amy’s typical red carpet style. Do you like the change?

I really quite like this. Haven’t been a huge fan of her choices recently, but I’m glad she’s gone back to a simple, unfussed dress and the girly hairstyle goes well with it for me.

I think she looks stunning I’ve seen american hustle and nearly all of Amy’s outfits are plunging neckline blouses or dresses so I’m surprised to see her go with this but I think it was a good choice.

  4. Mare January 13, 2014 at 15:20 #

I liked it with the cape.

  5. Susan January 13, 2014 at 15:19 #

I do like it. It is simple which is refreshing. The colors are great.

I didn’t expect that and i love it.!!

The dress is simple and not in a good way so I’m surprised so many people love it.

  8. Sanya January 13, 2014 at 10:26 #

One of her best looks ever. She looked just beautiful.

  9. Iva January 13, 2014 at 09:32 #

    Hm – I’m that thrilled.
She can and did much better.

      *not that

  10. Noemi January 13, 2014 at 08:35 #

One of the best dressed of the night.

  11. C January 13, 2014 at 07:44 #

It made me think of this – reminiscent, no?

I like this version better though.

    • Carrie January 13, 2014 at 14:57 #

Yes, it reminded me of Michelle in Prada too!

  12. Aline January 13, 2014 at 05:30 #

She looks so beautiful. I love her hairstyle and that she tried something more daring. She certainly pulls this off, one of the best of the night.

I wish I could get a full picture of her wearing the cape, there was only a glimpse of it on tv and I’m dying to see how it looked like.

I read that she wore this on the show with a cape on. Where is it? I wanna see it. I super love the color on her skin. 🙂

Out of all of her award show looks this one is my favorite. It’s so modern and beautiful. Also not a huge fan of her hair, but I like that it was up.

  15. CTgirl January 13, 2014 at 04:26 #

The hair has too much of a tightly done 1980’s prom vibe.

  16. Serenity January 13, 2014 at 04:26 #

I love it with the cape, and I love it without the cape. I think it was a great choice, considering her nomination was for a 70’s character/movie. It is very different for her, but she works it very convincingly. One of my favorites of the night, I think, so far.

Reminds me of Michelle Dockery’s Prada at the Emmys

First thing I thought as well.

  18. H January 13, 2014 at 04:08 #

Not so crazy about it but she looks good. Also, A WINNER!

  19. cherrysoftness January 13, 2014 at 04:06 #

Oh wow. Nice to see some real glamour here, she carries the dress the best way possible, slightly retro but very elegant.

  20. Anj January 13, 2014 at 04:05 #

    One of the best dressed!

  21. Alina January 13, 2014 at 04:04 #

Flawless! The colours are divine on her.

    So glad she won!

  22. christine January 13, 2014 at 04:04 #

you should add a picture of the cape she spent half of the red carpet in. very dramatic but i prefer the dress without it.

  23. Teleholic January 13, 2014 at 04:04 #

Best dressed, which is saying a lot considering how great the fashion was tonight.

  24. Nat39 January 13, 2014 at 03:59 #

I love it h2t, the look works beautifully for her, she can certainly wear a skin-baring look, the contrasting tones of red keep it fresh and modern and her styling is divine. Soft, sexy, romantic, carried off by Amy very well.

    • gabis January 13, 2014 at 13:54 #

I agree. She looks stunning. J’adore. One of my best dressed.

    • dee January 13, 2014 at 13:55 #

I agree too. I think she looks sensational.

    • Jess2 January 14, 2014 at 09:30 #

Couldn’t agree more, I love it!

  25. molly January 13, 2014 at 03:52 #

Im not sure about the hair, but this is my favorite look of the night. Fantastic.

  26. DivaDebbi (Beauty and Fashion Blog) January 13, 2014 at 03:51 #

Good not great. Pretty hair and makeup.

  27. Yeliz January 13, 2014 at 03:50 #

I love this look much better with the cape. Without it, I can only see the plunging neckline, which I don’t really love.

  28. Christine January 13, 2014 at 03:49 #

I like it. Glad she took the cape off.

    • Francois Bresmal January 13, 2014 at 12:54 #

I’m glad too because she’s ROCKING the plunging neckline! Love the 2 tones and the beautiful chiffon skirt! I feel like you’re not excited by this look FC. You never was, by Amy, as far as I remember. Why? She looks STUNNING!
