Spring 2014 New York Fashion Week Front Row – Day 2

Spring 2014 New York Fashion Week Front Row – Day 2

With New York Fashion Week fully under way, the FROW regulars are coming out to play. Here, a look at yesterday’s statement-making starlets in the chic seats at the Spring 2014 shows.

Ashley Madekwe @ Cushnie et Ochs: The ‘Revenge’ actress made waves at the Cushnie et Ochs presentation at Milk Studios in a fiery red-orange frock from the label, which is immediately recognizable for the cutout detail. The peekaboo double-slash through the center of the dress has sultriness and edge without being try-hard or distracting. The same goes for her effortless styling, including a swept-back ‘do, minimal makeup and a barely-there pair of black, skinny strap Saint Laurent sandals.

Taylor Momsen @ Helmut Lang: Wearing her go-to colour—black—the actress-cum-singer covered up in a Helmut Lang sweater-and-skirt ensemble at the brand’s show. The knee-high lace-up boots, not to mention her bed-head platinum waves and red under-eye shadow, which replaced her favoured smokey, raccoon eyes, added the rocker-rebel vibe that currently defines her style.

Solange Knowles @ Noon By Noor: Giving us one of the more spirited looks of the day, the songstress naturally wore a printed ensemble from the Noon By Noor Resort 2014 collection, when she attended the young brand’s show, held at The Studio at Lincoln Center. The playful palm-tree blazer and wide trouser shorts, mixed with the embroidered flamingos on the blue shirt, had a retro, fun flair only boosted by Sophia Webster’s pink-edged ‘Leilou’ T-strap sandals, which she wore with black socks.

Olivia Palermo @ Rebecca Minkoff: At the Rebecca Minkoff presentation, Olivia was the ultimate mix-maven, as she matched a Rebecca Minkoff black-and-white printed maxi skirt to a contrasting Hugo Boss patterned shirt. A BCBG belt helped break up the micro-prints, whilst Tibi ‘Carine’ ankle-strap sandals, a white Rebecca Minkoff ‘Elle’ studded handbag and oversized shades also accessorized the monochromatic look.

Katie Cassidy @ Houghton: Showing us another incarnation of the cropped trend, the actress wore a creamy long-sleeve Houghton top and matching pencil skirt at the label’s fashion show at The Standard Hotel. She accessorized with Charlotte Olympia ‘Dolly’ gold platform pumps and a Jimmy Choo colour-block clutch.

Jamie Chung @ Rebecca Minkoff: Joining Olivia in the front row at Rebecca Minkoff, Jamie also took a bold approach with a leather-accented, blue-and-white striped jacket and skirt from the brand’s Resort 2014 collection, paired with a Pre-Fall 2013 black crossover top and Rebecca Minkoff’s ‘La Roux’ Fall 2013 ankle boots for a moto-chic effect. A deep magenta lippie and an asymmetrical half-up, half-down ‘do completed her look.
