Rihanna Celebrates Fenty Beauty’s 1-Year Anniversary In Calvin Klein by Appointment

Rihanna Celebrates Fenty Beauty's 1-Year Anniversary

It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since Fenty Beauty launched and shook the beauty industry to its very core, with an extensive range and ethos that beauty is for everyone, no matter what your complexion is.

I was a died-hard M.A.C. girl, until Lupita Nyong’o made me switch to Lancome, but in Fenty Beauty’s shade 430, I think I’ve really met my true match.

Rihanna celebrated the 1-year anniversary at Sephora inside JCPenney on Friday (September 14) in Brooklyn, New York in some style.

You may be surprised to learn that this dress is Calvin Klein by Appointment, because when have Calvin Klein ever made a hot pink, flamenco-inspired dress?

But By Appointment – in its very nature – is a made-to-measure design service.

Rihanna In Alexis Mabille Haute Couture – 4th Annual Diamond Ball

Rihanna In Alexis Mabille Haute Couture - 4th Annual Diamond Ball

There is nothing ho-hum about Rihanna, but the singer has been slowly sliding into that category for some time now.

Thankfully her 4th Annual Diamond Ball, held in New York City on Thursday (September 13), help halt that slide.

Rihanna put on a breath-taking display in Alexis Mabille Fall 2018 Haute Couture.

This white Chantilly lace jumpsuit outlined in Lyon lace appliqués, was impactful enough, but the wide ottoman and satin skirt draped in a bow at the front which falls into a train has me going weak at the knees.

If I was to nitpick, I do wish she had worn her hair up, but this is the ‘go-hard’ Rihanna I want to see more often.

Chopard jewels completed her look.

Rihanna In Dolce & Gabbana – Savage X Fenty Fall/Winter 2018

Rihanna In Dolce & Gabbana - Savage X Fenty Fall/Winter 2018

Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty Fall/Winter 2018 fashion show closed NYFW on Wednesday (September 12) in Brooklyn, New York.

Rather than wear a look from her own Fenty x Puma line, the singer wore a Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2018 dress.

My first reaction to this was disappointment.

I believe this brown hue was chosen to resemble second skin, as she was promoting her lingerie line after all, but I found the look really unflattering.

Had this been a black, I believe the dress would’ve been much more forgiving.

A Chopard watch, Harry Kotlar diamond studs, Le Vian garnet earrings and diamond bracelets, and Brumani quartz rings accessorized her look along with strappy sandals and funky red shades.

Rihanna In Louis Vuitton – Louis Vuitton Spring 2019 Menswear Show

Rihanna was in Paris, France this afternoon (June 21) for the first Louis Vuitton menswear show under the creative direction of Virgil Abloh.

When I saw the singer in this white Louis Vuitton jumpsuit my thoughts were:

1. So close.

2. Too big…again.

3. Was she giving her Hospital Orderly Halloween costume a run-out before October?

4. Noooo. To the plastic bag. Which meant she had carry an explorer sling bag to protect her valuables.

Had this fit, this would’ve been a cool outfit, sans plastic bag.

Buccellati jewels and white shades completed her look.

Rihanna In Isabel Marant – Savage x Fenty London Pop-Up Shop

Rihanna, who was in London for the premiere of her new film, ‘Ocean’s 8, stepped out for her Savage x Fenty’s pop-up shop on Friday (June 15).

The Bajan beauty wore a black leather Isabel Marant Fall 2018 top and draped skirt paired with lace-up heels and white sunglasses.

It’s been a while since I got a looked super chic and cool vibe from Rihanna. Finally it feels like she embracing all that she is unapologetically and without fear.

If you having a case of deja vu, it might be two-fold because: Marion Cotillard wore the silver version of this look to the Madame Figaro dinner, and Rihanna also wore a leather look to her ‘Fenty’ by Rihanna makeup launch.

Rihanna In Poiret – ‘Ocean’s 8’ London Premiere

Rihanna descended upon London tonight (June 13) for the UK premiere of US box office smash hit ‘Ocean’s 8’, where she joined her cast mates Sarah Paulson, Sandra Bullock, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling and Cate Blanchett.

She was the golden girl for the night wearing a Poiret Fall 2018 gold metal-yarn draped dress, which suddenly made me hungry for some Ferrero Rocher.

I love how the design is as chic and refined as it is modern and relevant, despite the singer-turned-actress narrowly avoiding a wardrobe malfunction.

A Harry Kotlar diamond ring, a gold Christian Louboutin ‘Vanite’ Clutch and gold Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Harmony’ sandals rounded out her look.

I have been somewhat frustrated with Rihanna’s style over the last 12 months, but it was good to see her bring back a cutting edge to her style.

Rihanna In Matthew Adams Dolan – Stance For Clara Lionel

While I wasn’t blown away by Rihanna’s look at the ‘Ocean’s 8’ world premiere, I was starting to see light at the end of the tunnel, but her appearance at Stance for the Clara Lionel Foundation on Wednesday (June 6) in New York City had me questioning everything.

Matthew Adams Dolan is a very talented emerging designer. And if you check out his last two collections, you will see that oversized silhouettes sit firmly in his wheelhouse.

What I still don’t understand is Rihanna’s reliance on this oversized look for the past 12 months which started at Cannes.

I don’t hate the look as I love the colour, the attitude and the styling – which included a Stalvey bag, Chopard jewels and Manolo Blanhik heels – but I kinda wish she would play another note on that banjo.
