Rihanna Wore Mugler & Alaïa For The Fenty Beauty Mumbai Launch

Just when you thought Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty had cornered every part of the globe, the beauty mogul was in Mumbai to launch her first pop-up event at the city’s largest mall, Phoenix Palladium.

And, being the diva that she is, she gave us two looks.

Chartreuse Overload

The first was a custom Miguel Castro Freitas Mugler Fall 2026 chartreuse fluid crepe cascade dress paired with a leather mermaid skirt. Let’s start with the positives: she looks incredible, and that red lip against this chartreuse shade is striking. But let’s be honest, the fabric, especially the top, is overwhelming on her. Rihanna has been leaning into oversized silhouettes for a while, but in this case, the proportions are so off. It’s wearing her rather than the other way around. Matching chartreuse heels, and a nod to the host country with Manish Malhotra jewellery completed her look.

Alaïa Revisited

Rihanna and Alaïa have a long history together, so much so that I initially thought this fit-and-flare jersey dress was a rerun. Instead, the custom look, inspired by Pieter Mulier’s Alaïa Fall 2026 collection, echoes her 2023 Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show press conference outfit, thanks to the V-shaped crocodile leather panel. The photography from this event isn’t the best, but this is clearly the more flattering of the two, offering a stronger silhouette, even if I still prefer the first look for its colour and concept.
